Show SOCIETY thought and thimble A salad course luncheon was featured at the home of Mrs. Art Allen when she entertained her sewing club last Friday evening. eve-ning. Her guest list numbered six, including Mrs. Jack Redmond, Red-mond, Mrs. Ted Jensen, Mrs. Farrell Wilkins, Mrs. Harold Dillman, Mrs. Olen Pcrryman and Mrs. LeRoy Wilkins. The thought for the day, "Unselfish "Un-selfish Service," was presented by Mrs. Opal Dillman. BRIDGETTE Daffodils added their gay charm to the rooms when Mrs. Bennie Schmiett entertained the members of Bridgettc club at her home, Thursday evening, March 20. A delicious dessert luncheon was served at small tables with covers laid for Mrs. Elmer Eldredge, Mrs. Jack Mohl-man, Mohl-man, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Miss Karma Dee Harmston, Mrs. Sieve Bellon, Mrs. Ned Bellon, Mrs. Marvel Neilson, Mrs. Clem Labrum, Mrs. Johnnie Cook, Mrs. Bill Murdock, Mrs. Elbert Curtis and Mrs. Ralph Goerncr. Three tables of bridge were at play during the evening with' prizes being won by Mrs. Neil-i son. Miss Harmston and Mrs, Labrum. CHILDREN'S PARTY On Saturday Mrs. Orville Dart, of Myton, entertained at a party for her grandchildren, Glenna Jean and Ralph Dart, Jr. The afternoon was spent playing games, followed by delicious refreshments. re-freshments. Small guests present included Ronald and Jean Lloyd, Marion and Dannie Buchanan, Loya, Marcia and Jimmie Lemon, La-Ree La-Ree Bywater, Margo Linck, Ralph, Jr., Glenna Jean and Beth Dart. I THURSDAY CLUB Mrs. Orville Dart, of Myton, entertained members of the Thursday club at a dinner at her home last week, in compliment to Mrs. Violet Gentry, who was celebrating her birthday anniversary. anni-versary. I Following a birthday motif, the table was centered with a large mirror which reflected a beautifully' decorated cake, flanked by four lighted, green tapers. Her hostess presented Mrs. Gentry with a dainty corsage, while other members of the club presented her with lovely gifts. Mrs. Josephine Markey, of Roosevelt, was a special guest of the club. ALTRUS CLUB Altrus club met at the home of Mrs. Theron Leavitt, Thursday Thurs-day evening, with Mrs. Lester Swain as assisting hostess. Mrs. Paul Murphy presented an exceptionally interesting review re-view of the book, "Mr. Blanding Build3 His Dream House," by Eric Hodgins, and illustrated her ' review with clever "and artistic sketches drawn by Mrs. Virgie Murphy. Members present included Mrs. Elaine Hullinger, Mrs. LaJune Dillman, Mrs. Mattie Edwards, Mrs. Nedra Nickcll, Mrs. Jean Ivory, Mrs. Verlane Swenson, Mrs. Ruth Fredrickson, Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue Nixon, Miss Bernice Pjl-freyman, Pjl-freyman, Mrs. Beryl Mullins, Mrs. Bee Jordan, Mrs. Virgie Murphy, Mrs. Marcia Bourne, Mrs. Amber Page and Mrs. Glenn Wyler. PROM Thf Altprra Hieh School Jun- I ior Prom drew a capacity crowd I to the school gymnasium last I Friday evening. Following the theme "Deep Purple" the hall was beautifullyy decorated to represent re-present a delightful spring garden gar-den in early evening. Lattice work with flowers and trailing vines formed a charming background back-ground for the lovely formal dresses of the girls. Melda Rasmussen was crowned crown-ed Queen of the Prom at the beginning of the floor show, with Anthony Andreason acting as crown bearer, and little Carol Rasmussen serving as the queen's attendant. The entire Junior class participated in the floor show which was directed by Mrs. Nyals Andreason. I Members of the Prom committee com-mittee included Joyce Haslem, chairman, Norman Bodily, Ona Bartlett, Wilma Gilstrap, Glenn Eldredge, Shirley Huber and Melda Rasmussen. prom advisors were John L. Kitchen and Glen Allred. patrons included Mr. and Mrs- Nyals Andreason, Mr. and Mrs. H. Grant Vest, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marimon, Mr. and Mrs. 1 Austin Wardle, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Todd, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Rasmussen, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Murray and Mrs. L. E. Howell ROOSEVELT STAKE GOLD AND GREEN BALL One of the foremost formal affairs af-fairs of the season was held at the Roosevelt stake house Tuesday Tues-day evening, when the wards of the stake convened to hold the annual Roosevelt Stake M. I. A. Gold and Green Ball. Centering around a centennial theme, the hall and stage were artistically decorated to represent repre-sent a glorified pioneer garden, with garlands of pink and white roses climbing white trellises and lattice work fences, and entwined en-twined among the spokes of I white wagon wheels. A feature I of the decorations were the love-ly love-ly murals, depicting pioneer i scenes, which were hung along the side walls to which radiated streamers of traditional gold and green. Representing each ward of the stake were Queens Carol Jensen, Randlett; Ruth Bingham, Myton; Mildred Durvall, Moffat; Jerry Spencer, Neola;. Velma Todd, Roosevelt; Vee Rasmussen, Bennett; Ben-nett; Lorraine Rasmussen, Ballard, Bal-lard, and Genevieve Carruth, Ioka. During the floor show the queens, each gowned in a lovely pioneer costume, came down from the stage to form the nucleus nuc-leus of the centennial dance "Hail, Miss Pioneer," which was performed in costume by Alta Andreason, Blanche Murphy, Virgie Murphy, Bernice Palfrey-man, Palfrey-man, Millie Stevens, Verlaine Swenson, Geraldine Shields, El-oise El-oise Kay, Curtis Walton, James Lewis, Nyals Andreason and Theron Leavitt. Presentation of the queens was made by Earl Dillman, while Mrs. Dillman presented each with a gift from the Stake Board. General chairmen in charge of the ball were Mrs. Blanche Murphy, president of the Y.L.M. I. A., and Paul Nelson, president of the Y.M.M.I.A. The wall murals mur-als were painted by Mrs. Melba Swain, chairman of the decorat-I decorat-I ing committee, assisted by Mrs. Melba Hanson and Mrs. Vera Groves. Other members of the decorating committee were Ellen Rawlings, Jean Ivory, Lester Swain, Parley Rawlings and Norman Nor-man Murphy. Mrs. Alta Andreason Andrea-son and Theron Leavitt were in charge of the floor show. 'President and Mrs. Ray E. Dili-man Dili-man headed the reception committee com-mittee which consisted of members mem-bers of the Stake Boards. |
