Show Miss Dixie Madsen Sets March 11 As Wedding Date Wedding bells will ring Friday,! March 11, for Miss Dixie A. Mad- sen and Willis D. Akelund, whose engagement is announced this week by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Patry, of Roosevelt. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion R. Madsen of Boise, Idaho, and the groom-to-be the son of Mr. and Mrs. Al-fonzo Al-fonzo Akelund of Vernal. The wedding will take place at the Patry residence at 7:30 p.m., with Bishop John Swenson of the Roosevelt LDS ward officiating. Invitations are being issued to approximately ap-proximately one hundred and twenty-five guests to attend the reception which - will be held at the American Legion hall the same evening at 8:00 p.m. in compliment compli-ment to the newlyweds. Miss Madsen graduated from the Miami High School at Miami, Arizona, with the class of '53, and has been employed at the Safeway Safe-way Store in Roosevelt since that time. Her fiance was released from the U. S. armed service Feb. 22, after serving two years, seventeen sev-enteen months of which were spent in Korea. Future plans for the couple are indefinite, but they will make their home in Roosevelt for the present time. Mrs. Stringham Is New Catholic Council Leader Mrs. Paul Stringham of Roose-veltw Roose-veltw as elected president of the Uintah District of Diocesan Council Coun-cil of Catholic Women at a meet ing held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 19, at the Catholic rectory in Roosevelt. Other officers elected included Mrs. Johnny Wogec, Roosevelt, secretary - treasurer; Mrs. Wm. Robertson, Vernal, director at large; and Mrs. Stan Schmiett, Vernal, chairman of Catholic charities. char-ities. A ' brief business meeting was conducted in addition to election of officers, and refreshments were served at the St. Helen's Altar Society. Out-going officers include Mrs. Ramon Pfeffer, Vernal, president; Mrs. Jewel Kolb, Altamont, secre-tary-tareasurer, and Mrs. Lou Bo-gart, Bo-gart, director at large. The Altar Society presidents are automatically the vice-presidents of the council, with Mrs. Charles Roller of the St. Helen's Altar Society serving in that capacity. Mrs. Stringham attended a luncheon board meeting in Salt Lake City last Thursday for the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. |
