Since Pearl Harbor the and Army Navy have purchased or are purchasing private property equal to the combined areas of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Deleware, the District of Columbia and of New Jersey. Before the war is over, some acres equal to the area of all New England will be taken over by the Government. The land is used for Army camps. Naval bases, airfields, y housing areas, bombing ranges, fields and ship yard dry docks. Men under 32 years of age and graduates of accredited colleges or universities are now eligible to become candidates' for commissions as officers in the four-fifit- artil-lerd- U. S. Marine Corps Reserve. Previously candidates were required to be under 30 years of age. Stabilization of Farm Prices. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ON THE MEAT RATIONING The Agriculture Department is preparing a program to encourage orderly marketing of hogs through the heavy run expected in December and January. This program which will be administered by the AMA includes a hog marketing permit plan which will be used if necessary Some weeks there will be more hogs ready for market than the packers can process but the large needs of the war program will still limit the meat supplies civilians can purchase. SOUTH RICH HIGH VERL POPE FIGHTING SCHOOL BAND ON GUADALCANAL What is the matter with the South Rich Band. I would say nothing. But what has become of the band mothers and parents of the band boys and girls. Wednesday evening the band put on one of the best band concerts ever staged in Randolph and it was the smallest attendance that ever turned out. That does not encourage the boys and girls the instructor. I believe we have nor success. and one of the best instructors in this western country in Professor Carl J. Stuart.
