Show by Lowell Hance North Rich High School A & B HONOR ROLL Utah State University took on another arch rival ball club this past Saturday, and the Weber State Wildcats proved to be no small contender. The crowd was enthusiastic, but a certain uneasiness captured their attention. Perhaps they understood the threat posed by Weber State. USU might have had an advantage in the Spectrum, but statistics show USUs edge there in games aginst Weber State has been just During the early stages of the first half, it was evident that two fine teams were truly in contest. Three and a half minutes found the score tied at 6-and seconds later USU slid a quick three shots through the hoop to lead the Cats 12-- Little did they know this would be their greatest lead of the Bob Anderson Julie Dustin Jenny Fasy Jill Fasy Monica Fornberg Kib Haufner Kristie Haufner Angela Johnson Robyn Johnson Bryan Lambourn Eva Mills Kelly Mills Kirk Peterson 7-- Patricia Pugmire Helen Wahlstrom Kristan Webb LaRene Weston Lisa Weston Sherrie Weston John Willis 6. 6, 6. Out of nowhere the Great Wildcat appeared to the dismay of the Aggies, and moved the Cats to scramble for four baskets ir. a row, then another two points from John Prices free throw. This left the half time score in favor of Weber State, 41-3The Aggies came back with a more aggressive game in the second half, but could not match the effort put forth by the Cats. Weber State continued to dominate the game, and with ten minutes remaining on the clock, they still led USU by eight to ten points. Various factors contributed to USUs lagging score. Coach Tueller pointed to his players forcing the basket and missing too many foul shots. He felt the Cats earned their shots and played a highly aggressive game. Again, the coach said that basically we kept coming up dry on basket attempts. Twice with less than ten minutes in the game the Aggies showed signs of breaking ahead. Jeff Anderson, who Coach Tueller priased as being the most effective player, stuffed the ball off a blcok and initiated the Aggies last drive. The final few minutes and even second were tense indeed, as the crowd awaited the outcome. Fifteen seconds remained, and USU still lacked only two points to tie. Chris McMullin was called for a personal foul, and Martin Nish made one for two from the line, to give the Cats a three point lead with fourteen seconds left. Aggie Joel Rotta bagged two points on a layin with two seconds remaining, to yield the Wildcats 74-7- 3 Indicated Straight As brownies started 5.
