Whenever we cannot have our say as to what the democratic fathers taught, felt, practiced prac-ticed and spoke, then we are no longer a democrat and want to forget that we ever beloneed to the party. A few enthusiasts en-thusiasts may get together and for a temporal purpose or under the impulse im-pulse of an ephemeral enthusiasm write a platform or a plank which is not good democracy, but that plank will not bind ue. The love of fair play which la a distinguishing trait of both nations should soon enable the governments of both to settle this question in the interests only of justice.
