Dougall who did not get the majority of the voteB on Kovemher 7th is seated. The commit tee found that twenty-fiye votes, counted, count-ed, returned and canvassed as from the j eleventh district, were cast at the elec-, tion in question by voters resident in the territory south of the line formerly dividing Spanish Fork and Springville precincts, said territory now being included in-cluded within Mapleton precinct. That said twenty-five votes were cast by voters residing within the twelfth legislative district, and were without warrant of law cast, counted and returned re-turned as a part of said eleventh district. dis-trict. That fifty-seven yotes were cast within said Mapleton precinct at Baid election, of which the contestant received re-ceived fifteen and the contestee received re-ceived forty -two. That contestant received, re-ceived, as returned by the Utah commission, com-mission, 856 and contestee 80S votes. The committee was of the opinion that the twenty five ballots cast by parties residing within the twelfth district should be thrown out and deducted from the total number received by the contestant and contestee" in said Mapleton Map-leton precinct in proportion to the number of votes received by each in said precinct, which would reduce the contestant's total vote in the district to 819 and the contestee s to e-w. io effort was made by the committee to ascertain how those twenty-five voters The council returned the statehood memorial, as it had passed without amendment, and also the bill for contingent con-tingent expenses, with the $1,000 substitute sub-stitute for $2,000. McBride, chairman of the contingent expense committee, reported expenditures expendi-tures already of over $900 and moved to not concur. Carried. A communication was received from the chamber of commerce, transmitting transmit-ting the resolutions which vigorously protest against the passage of the Johnson's John-son's and Varian's pet measures which tax mortgages. Referred. Stoker presented the claim of Morgan Mor-gan county for half of the expense for maps and tax on mortgages, amounting amount-ing to $287.55. Referred. Varian presented a petition of the sheriff of Salt Lake county for $45 for services rendered. Referred. Hatch presented the claim of citizens of Wasatch county, who want $100 for capturing thiee horse thieves. Warner presented ine claim of rt. S. Joyce, M. D., for $50 for expert witness fees. Referred, Warner preseuted the claim of A. L. Condon for $50 on same account. Referred. Re-ferred. Allen presented claim of Vincent Shurtlifffor $12 50 witness fees. Referred. Re-ferred. Standford, a bill to amend the law relating to the payment of jurors, etc. TO TAKE OFF BOUNTY. By Hatch a bill to repeal the section giving a bounty for the killing of wild animals and birds. Standford, a biil to amend the laws relating to school lands. Johnson, a bill designed to repeal the law passed at the last session in relation re-lation to tbe befouling o waters by 1 sheep Also a bill designed to amend the laws regat ding assessments. Wines, a bill to give a bounty on suear beets during this and next year. Varian's bill which provided for the extension of time to begin suit on open accounts from two to three years, was killed on recommendation of the com-, mittee on judiciary. Further discussion as to printing was indulged in The matter was referred. A report from the committee on contingent con-tingent expenses recommended the purchase of a specified amount of sta tionery, some waste baskets, and otner articles for use in the committee rooms. Williams objected to some ot the articles as unnecessary. Seaman agreed m the objection. An amendment amend-ment striKing out the objectionable articles ar-ticles was lost. The committee on insane asylum reported that the date Saturday, the 27t li inst., be fixed as tbe date for the visit to the ssvluni at Provo. Adopted. A bill by Booth of Proyo, relating to the relief of voluntary firemen, was read by title and tiled for second reading. read-ing.
