Show QUB COUNTY AFFAIRS Occupy the Attention ot the County Court. Several Thousand Dollars Appropriated to Pay the Debts of the County. Havercamp & Clark Awarded the work of Writing up the Abstract of o. Records. The Utah County Court resumed its session Wednesday and transacted the following business. The petition of A. O. Smoot and others, asking for a county road to be opened from the west end of Harrington Harring-ton in Americau Fork precinct, running run-ning westerly to connect with the country road in Lehi precinct, was referred re-ferred to Selectmen Holdaway and Lund. W. H. Brown, Justice of the Peace for Provo precinct,, reported criminal cases heard by nim for the quarter ending end-ing March 1, 1891, with costs of $97.90, which report was accepted and the amount allowed and appropriated. The reports of the Justices of the Peace on the sales of estrays were read and accepted. The Clerk was instructed in-structed to notify each Justice of the Peace in the county that hereafter an itemized bill of costs must accompany his report on sales of estrays. The committee to whom was referred thepetion of Ezra E. Walker and others, res'dents of the southern and southeastern portions of Pleasant Grove school district, asking to be severed from Pleasant Grove district and to be set off as a soparate district, reported that, after a full hearing and consideration of the question, they would recommend that the petition be net granted. The report was accepted. The committee to whom was referred refer-red the petition of J. E. Healy and others, residents of Alpine School district, dis-trict, asking that the boundaries of said district be changed, aud also the counter-petition of James C. Nilsen and others of Highland School district on the same question, reported that they had visited and examined the premises which are asked to be attached at-tached to Alpine. A ' meeting had sides7 ancTafter full "consideration the committee was of the opinion that the boundary line between Highland and Alpine district should be removed at least one-half mile from its present location, lo-cation, and further, that it would be to the best interests of all to do away entirely with Highland district, and therefore recommended that said Highland district be abolished, and that the old lines between Alpine and American Fork bt re-established. Wilson reported expenditures for services of the County Superintendent Superinten-dent of Schools for the quarter ending February 28, 1S91, at $150; approved, being $15 tor rent and $5 for postage. A communication was presented to the court from Sheriff Fowler, asking the court to provide for a jailer, of which officer there was a necessity. The communication was placed on file and the Probate J udge requested to issue an order to the Sheriff, in accordance accord-ance with section 113, vol. 1, Laws of Utah, 1S88. The report on the petition of Chas. Craig and others was accepted and the turn of 850 appropriated to Selectman Holdaway for said purpose. The report on the petition of J. J. Williamson and others was accepted and the sum of $75 apprepriated. The report on the petition of A. O. Smoot was accepted and the recommendations recom-mendations adopted. The Probate Judge reported insane cases heard befor e him during the quarter ending February 28, 1891, with items of costs accrued. The report was accepted and the sum of $41.50 appropriated. On motion of Selectman Jones the Probate Pro-bate Judge was authorized to sign a contract with said parties for the faithful performance of said work, which contract was prepared and submitted sub-mitted by said County Attorney, and the committee heretofore appointed was also authorized to make payments : for said work as it progresses, in accordance ac-cordance with the terms of said contract. con-tract.
