"Our bats came alive in that first game," Gardner said. "We made some nice adjustments after they went ahead." The two teams meet again today on the UVCC diamond. Game time is 1 p.m. Ricks' Paul Gines gunned him down from right field. Then Robbs battled relief pitcher Garret Stephenson to a 2 count before striking out to end the 3-- 7-- game. While attending Lehi, Lori has earned letters in volleyball, basketball, softball and track. She has done so while maintaining a 3.9 overall grade point average, including a 4.0 average this year. She also plays the piano and is active in church service. "Lori is a great student and person," said Lehi principal Russ Felt. "It's great to see her get the recognition she deserves." Thayn said her most exciting athletic moment occurred in this year's basketball game against Union when she hit a shot at the buzzer to win the game. "It was a pretty exciting moment," she said. "And it's also been exciting to win this award." The best part for Pioneer fans, however, is the fact that Lori is only a junior and will be back next season. "It's really nice when you have a thoroughbred like Robbie (Reid) to ride," Nelson said Friday after Reid pitched the Dons to a 1 win over American Fork. Reid and American Fork's Kevin Luke locked in a pitching duel. Each team got just four hits. Spanish Fork made its hits count more as Reid, Kent Cook and Brian Dudley drove in runs. "But we just haven't had the support of the students in putting together a full team. We've only had wrestlers at about half the weights during the season, and so its been tough on the kids who want to wrestle. They didn't ever have a chance of winning a team meet because even if everyone won, there weren't enough wrestlers to get the points for a win." Timpview wrestling coach Gary Twitchell echoed these feelings. "Its been a tough year," said Twitchell. "We started out with 11 wrestlers, but injuries hurt us throughout the year. By the time the season ended, we only had five wrestlers because we didn't have the depth to back them up when they got hurt. This also made it hard for the five remaining wrestlers because they didn't have anyone to practice with. My assistant coach and I have been wrestling them throughout the season because there was no one around to give them any competition." seemed to Although the be fighting an uphill battle all season, they also had some fine wrestlers including junior Mark Skousen who finished second at the state tournament. However, with some great wrestlers returning, the next problem Timpview faces is what to do with those wrestlers who want to compete next year. "According to the High School Activities Association rules, a student can transfer to another school to wrestle," said Merrill. "As of right now, they would only have to transfer to the school during the wrestling season. However, we are going to try and appeal that rule so that our wrestlers can compete for another school while staying a student at Timpview." Two wrestlers who are going to take that option are Mark Skousen and his twin brother Jeff. "I wish I could stay and wrestle at Timpview," said Mark. "But I would rather transfer than lose every team match.
