Lund $1.50 PER YEAR MEN PROPOSE PEACE PRO-GRAMS, BOT THIS HAS BEEN ATTENDED TO LONG AGO While it good to see and hear men propose peace pro-grams, it should be understood that the great Peace Program to be put into operation after the War Against Wickedness is ended at Armageddon has iong since been prepared by th ; Autho- - of peace, even the Prince of Peace. He himself will end this war, make the terms and conditions, take over His risht to rule and establish peace in His own way. Men have failed Hm and it is now beyond their power to bring peace so the one and only Peacemaker will have to do the work himself. Do not consider this foolish or too ideal It is true and altogether practical as practical as life itself It is just what the whole world has been praying for through all the centuries Thy Kingdom Come. That Kingdom is 2000 years nearer now. It is the next order for humanity, not in thefar future but now soon. Men would not bring it, so the Lord, through His power and the battle of His great day is ushering it in. Believe this or throw away your bible. HARVARD MAN GIVES THE LOW DOWN ON JAPAN INCUR. SCIENCE MONITOR "'There was once a better Japan a Japan which was gro-ping toward political democracy and toward greater prosperity and individual freedom for its c tizens. But that Japan has now been relegated to the sad category of things which might have been. For more than ten years the current has been fiowing strongly in the opposite direction gathering speed un- - till it has swirled into the maelstrom of warfare from which, in her case, there is no return, Japan, in choosing war, has turned her back once an d for all upon the path leading to inter national cooperation between nations and freedom and pros-perity for all peoples. There can be no hope for the democra-tic Japan which might have been until the Japan which exists today has been vanquished and destroyed." ilS'Personall1 One of our best subscribers in Ogden is Neighbor Carl B. Pederson. He and his wife call-ed at the office last week-en- d and delivered the goods. We have great respect for these people. They came to this country 50 years ago. He paid theirimmi ration fees by work-ing for $15 a month But they have prospered and are now en joying life in their own home. The'r old age is happy. They live their religion almost per- - fectly. On August 17 they will celebrate their golden wedding. Neighbor A. O. Miller of 2176 So. 7th East, and his good wife have recently returned from a trip to California where they went to see their soldier son before he was called abroad He has already advanced to a' first class private. Good for Neighbor Daniel Black. From the U S. Engin-eer's office this city, comes the following word: 'Effective June 25, 1942, Mr. Daniel L. Black is designated as Area Engineer, Grand Junction Airport, Grand Juncti in. Colorado, vice Mr. Earl Petersen, relieved. - Many Eastern people are singing the following: And when I die please bury me Neath a ton of sugar by a rub-ber tree. Lay me to rest in an auto ma-chine And water my grave with gas. oline. Friend John R Tovcy, for years a good helper in this of-fice, died from a heart attack last week leaving a wife xand four children. FuDeral services were held at the Kingdom-Lee- s mortuary Tuosday under dir-ection of BpBuitof the 13th ward. The speakers were Geo Woodruff and Alfred Sorenson. To us Mr. Tovey was loyal, in-dustrious and trustworthy. Peace to his spirit and blessing on his family. EBHTOISIALS Saboteurs Scuttling Nation When we read of the traitors and saboteurs caught on the Eastern seabord it reminded us of what Washington said to his generals on the eve of one of his important battles: "Tonight e strike at the enemy. There arc traitors in our mid.-- t Be sure you have only Americans at the outposts." Yes, those who came at the dictator's behest and in his pay, trained by his gestapo, to destroy the vitals of America, are comrades of some within the country who stood ready to help them in their deadly work There are "Americans" in this and other cities who would have welcomed, even aided them had they i ot been caught. We say to them, and espec-ially to those who are busy stabbing America's heroic ally in the back, that those who have bejn caught and who were ready to put the United States down and out and'bury her civiliza-tion beneath the heels of foreign despots, are not communists. They are your fascist comrades. "AH who take part, or aim to take part in such, or similar activities, will literally destroy themselves in the effort. If such work succeds then America perishes and becomes one with the dead empires of the past. And with her will die the last best hope of this world. Congratulations, Soldiers! - N ' 1 . p 5,36 corps - j William L. V. H. Says: It appears that many people of today arc attempting to casta vet blanket on prophecies. Recently a man wrote. ' I thought w? hi I piss id far emuh along aid had be in educa-ted enough not to pay attention to these people who are try-ing to foretell cents to come. No one is able to te.l of things in the future two or three weeks ahead, much less two thous-and years." Alright, brother. You have another guess co-ming. Some have eyes and see not, ears and hear not, heart and do not comprehend. Noah preaehed one hundred and twenty years, calling people to repentanee, foretelling what what would happen if they did not. He was laughed at, and many called hi m a fool; but the time came, when all who . had ridiculed him were drowned in the flood. C. V. Hansen Editorial. We should learn to see and speak of the hcauty, the good-ness, the heroism in humanity. It should not be necessary' for the people to be separated from the common ideals of our common life in order for us to appreciate them for what they are; If one sets out to find the good in human nature he will find it 'everywhere. He needs only the tolerance which made Joaquin Miller sing: "In men whom men condemn as ill I find so much of goodness still; In men whom men have called divine j I find so much of sin'and b'ot, f I do not care to draw a line f Between the two, where God has not." A five year program of cooperative research calling for an expenditure of $10,000 a year was voted unanimously- by of Consumers Cooperative Association at a meeting in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, May 26-2- 8 Directors voted at the me meeting to build a plant for making alcohol from farm products, the alcohol to be used in the manufacture of synthe-it- c rubber and for othe war purposes. We should never indulge in political, social or racial hatred or contempt. We should not let our mindsdwell orr our mistakes. This is poison to the mind and the body Personal and pro-fessional jealousy is an odious thing and should not be indul-ged in. If we desire health, peace, happiness and contentment we should think health, peace happiness and conlment. In order to feed our spirits, unfold and develop them, we must give attention to the sdiritual and think spiritual thoughts. .... The Fruits of Liquor In a fight Monday night in one of the West side saloons a man killed his own brother. It was the old, old story, they had been drinking. The father and three sons were all there drinking, drinking. And so the home is blighted by this in-excusable tragedy. That is one of the consequences of making it so easy to obtain liquor. It appears that the places were beer only is supposed to be sold need a cleaning up. And And the liquor business had better do the cleaning up before the people become so disgusted with it that they take it in hand in another wave of prohibition. Under the law there is no place for liquor in beer saloons, no place for drunkeness, no place for fights, no place for criminals to gather to plot their crimes. And yet these things go on, apparently gett ng worse. ... - m - One -- Man Medical Corns on the Move 1 . . A Brotherhood Movement Some Catholic church organization has adopted a ten point after-the-- ar program, and there are some parts of it that should be put over, especially in countries where Catholics are in control. They ask for decent living wages for workers, decent homes for the poor, etc. But i't is to point ten that we wish to pay attention. It reads as foil ws: ''10. The enor-mous inequality in distribution of wealth and control of lives of the masses by a comparatively few rich people is against the social order. There must be a renewal of the Christian spirit of brotherhood which the lust few generations of scien-tific prosperity and "got rich quick" have gone far to kill." Now if he Catholics will put that program into action in Italy, in Spain, in Mexico, and 01 her countries where they are influential ami powerful tin n the world, barring the effects of war, will begin to move fusiei ihan it has done for many a day.
