His extra-curricular activities ore many and varied. At right he leaves the Weiden church with two young friends from the orphanage. orphan-age. It is his custom every day to invite two of the children to his home for lunch and recreation. (J The chaplain's time, between Sundays, is spent talking with G.l.'s. He performs marriages and takes a deep interest in German children. His "parish" covers roughly 250 square miles. , Many Germans in the little villages vil-lages attend his services. J. " x" i 1 " 1 O The above picture is a familiar sight in Weiden. The chaplain's jeep, loaded with youngsters from the orphanage, or-phanage, as he takes them on an outing. German youngsters young-sters are the same as children anywhere, a bottle of pop and a jeep ride is a thrill and an adventure. And it is a wonderful treat to be invited to lunch with the chaplain. ; v !i V i : s - lit The Michigan preacher (above) packs a small suit-case in which he carries his parson's gown and books for his Sunday morning rounds. At left he conducts con-ducts marriage ceremony between be-tween a German girl and an American in St. Michaels Church at Hof.
