Men and women, girls and boys are all represented represent-ed there among the winners. Our Golden Club does a mighty fine job annually with this show. . The firemen's breakfast, break-fast, all the events sponsored by the Recreation Department and the Chamber of commerce, the tennis, swimming, horseshoe and Softball tournaments, tourna-ments, the 10K Road Race, tours and bake sale by the DUP at the Pioneer Museum, the children's parade and the stock parade as well as the carnival all made this Strawberry Days extra nice. The last parade is over, the lights are out, and Harold Jacklin is trying to recuperate from the 1982 Strawberry Straw-berry Days which concluded Saturday night. The annual Straw-bery Straw-bery Days parades on Thursday morning and Thursday night were not as big as usual, probably due to the economy and the enormous expense involved in building a float. The floats that were in the parade were extraordinary. Bayly's Viking ship was very well done, as was the one from Deseret Bank and Wasatch Bank. The queens floats were lovely, especially the Strawberry Days Queen float, which we understand was not judged because not all the riders for it were there in time. The high school bands are always good. Don't drum majors mark time with big huge batons anymore? The mayor and city council certainly should be in the parade and everyone is glad to wave at them. But many people are asking if all the politicians add much to a parade especially during an election year. The horse pulling contest was superb. A large crowd turned out to see the fine draft horses outpull each other. This is always an exciting event and attracts many teams from surrounding states. Ken Gillman's Lindon twang adds greatly to this special event. The rodeo had a rather small crowd on Thursday night but it picked up the following nights. Everyone says it was the best rodeo the celebration has had in years. One clown was gored by a bull the last night and one cowboy received a broken ankle but that was the worst of it. People are still talking about the terrific rodeo clowns that performed this year. Always popular are the Arts and Crafts Show and the Flower Show. A few changes for the better were made this year with the arts and crafts show being held in the Young Mothers Rooms in the Timpanogos Industries Building and the flower show at the recreation building. The flower show is always a favorite. The beautiful flowers, the . . . . I f ' I ' -.'4fV-- ! ' . v '..'
