West State Road (by smith's) American Fork '.-'3 CI 15' t AMI MILAN I IIIIK n.HH IIUAI1HWAI1I ' liMIMI 8 A few years ago, custodian custo-dian Chad Penrod was cleaning out some old boxes at Central Elementary Elemen-tary School on 400 East when he found several stacks of old photographs dating back to the 1950s and 1940s. Hoping to find a way to return the photographs to the children, Penrod gave the box to his aunt, Mary Rasmussen Nielson, knowing know-ing that she worked at Central in the lunchroom for five or six years around that time. "Mom lived around Pleasant Grove all her life," said Les Nielsen, her son. "She recognized some of the kids and handed out the ones who she knew, but we still have around 150 or 200 pictures." Nielsen said the pic tures depict a time in Pleasant Grove's history when children dressed in farmer coveralls and pretty pret-ty dresses. Nielson wants to save these precious pictures pic-tures from a trip to the landfill. "Somebody is going to want these pictures," he said. If anyone attended Central Cen-tral Elementary School in Pleasant Grove during the 1940s, one of these pictures pic-tures might belong to them. Nielsen has given the stacks of photographs to the Pleasant Grove Review city editor and they will be available for identification at 59 W. Main Street in American Fork during regular office hours.
