Show Funeral Rites Held Tuesday for Annie A.Thompson Funeral rites were conducted on Tuesday afternoon for Annie Amelia Am-elia (Millie) Thompson, 86, who died at. her home Thursday, March 28, of causes incident to age. The impressive rites were held in the Second-Fourth Ward Cha.p-el Cha.p-el under the direction of Bishop Harry S. Richards and began at 1 p.m. Invocation was offered by Robert Rob-ert Shoell of the Second ward bishopric. bish-opric. Mrs. J. E. Ha-rdman, Mrs. Leland Beers, and Mrs. Glade Bullock Bul-lock sang "O My Father." They were accompanied by Rosalie Richards. Rich-ards. A biographical sketch of the busy useful life of Mrs. Thompson was written and read by a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Russell Thompson of American Fork. Speakers were Reed O. Walker and Burton S. Adams, both former for-mer bishops of the Pleasant Grove Second Ward. Mr. Walker told of childhood memories of happy times when the Thompson family visited his parents, and of the kindness always extended to the youngsters. Mr. Adams also told of the trials of earlier days when the dread dip-theria dip-theria wiped out five brothers and sisters of Mrs. Thompson. Both spoke of the blessings that come to those who follow in the footsteps foot-steps of the Lord. Musical numbers were a vocal solo, "Goodnight and Goodmorn-ing," Goodmorn-ing," by LaRee S. Radmall accompanied accom-panied by Rosalie Richards and a vocal solo "In My Fathers' House Are Many Mansions," by Warren P. Kirk, accompanied by Mrs. Kirk. Closing remarks of sympathy and appreciation were made by Bishop Richards, after which the ladies trio sang the closing number, num-ber, "Beyond the Sunset," accom-oanied accom-oanied by Miss Richards, who also played prelude and postlude organ music. Benediction was pronounced by Gerald Belliston of the bishopric. . Interment was made in the family fam-ily plot in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, where Bishop John Webb offered the dedicatorial prayer. Pallbearers, all grandsons, were Russell Reed, Carl Thompson, Russell, Reed, and Carl Thompson, Stanford and Val Steele and Kirk Dimick. Mrs. Thompson was born June 29, 1870 in Pleasant Grove, daughter daugh-ter of Charles H. and Frederika Waldermar West. She married Andrew Thompson on Jan. 12, 1888 in Pleasant Grove. He died November No-vember 1934. Survivors are a son, Russell Thompson, American Fork; a daughter, Mrs. H. M. (Doroithy) Steele, Grace, Idaho; 14 grandchildren; grand-children; 37 great-grandchildren; seven gi-eat-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Waldemar West, Pleasant Grove, EIRoy H. West, Salt Lake City, Archie West, California. |
