Show Life Long Resident Dies Fred Smith, 71, died at his home Wednesday at 11 o'clock p. m- of stomach trouble. He was bom September 22, 1S64 in Pleasant Grove, a son of Joseph W. and Jane Patten Smith, and lias lived here all of his life. He has engassed in fanning and stock raising rais-ing during the greater part of his life. In his early life he worked in the saw mills in American Fork can-j'on. can-j'on. He assisted in building the first road in American Fork canyon. He served one term as a member of the Pleasant Grove Irrigation board and one term as city councilman- He was an active member of the L. D- S church. He married Annie Christiansen May 10. 1892- Surviving are his widow and the following sons and daughters: Mrs- Margey Atwood, Ellen El-len and Leslie Smith, Pleasant Grove; Clifton Smith, American Fork; Mrs. Emma Gillman, Orem; Mrs. Abbie Peterson, Copperton; Irving Ir-ving Smith, Armel, Calif., and Mrs. Ralph Smith, Salt Lake City; also 17 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Annie Hillman and Mrs. Hattie Richards of Pleasant Grove-Funeral Grove-Funeral services will be held Sunday Sun-day at 2 p. m. in the Third ward chapel under the direction of Bishop F. D. Atwood- Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove cemetery. o |
