Show Council Studies Routine Matters Monday Night Matters largely of routine nature occupied the City Fathers at the Council meeting held last Monday night. The session was a long one, with adjournment coming at 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. Things are moving forward toward to-ward a successful consumation of the proposed road-building program, pro-gram, Mayor Burton H. Adams reported. re-ported. The Mayor calls for a fair consideration of the proposition by all citizens, whether they have good streets in front of their homes or not. "Clean, smooth and adequate ade-quate city streets are an asset to everyone, regardless of place of residence," he said. Mayor Adams reported ithat a request is being filed with the State Liquor Commission to close the local liquor store on Strawberry Straw-berry Days, June 20 and 21. The hazardous condition of the open ditch along Second South from Battle Creek Canyon to the Ben Adams residence was discussed discuss-ed Monday night. Councilman Rex Gourley was appointed to canvas residents of the area on the proposition of buying the pipe for closing the ditch with the city doing the labor la-bor of laying the same. The danger dan-ger to children of the area is too great for us to delay the steps necessary to correct it, the Mayor concluded. |
