Show Funeral Kiies Wednesday For Fred Cnlmer Relatives and friends gathered Wednesday at the Pleasant Grove First ward chapel to pay final respects res-pects to the memory of Fred Cul-mer Cul-mer and express sympathy for his family . The impressive service directed by Lindon ward bishopric was conducted con-ducted by bishop's counselor, Joseph Jos-eph Ash, and began at 2 o'clock with a ladies quartette, Vie Oster-gaard, Oster-gaard, Alberta Walker, Ella Smith and Mrs. Harward, singing "One Fleeting Hour." They were a-ccompanied a-ccompanied by Loraine Ruffell. Invocation was offered by Lester G. West. Speakers who eulogized the fine character and paid tribute to his thrift and trustworthiness were Patriarch D. B. Thorne and Junius A. West'. Musical numbers interspersing the speakers were an organ solo, "O My Father," played by Janice Chadwick, a grandaughter; a vocal- duet, "In the Garden, by Mrs. Ostergaard and Mrs. Harward. After closing remarks of sympathy sym-pathy and appreciation by Mr. Ash the closing number "Going Home" was sung by Warren Kirk accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Kirk. Benediction was pronounced by L S. Walker and internment directed dir-ected by Olpin Mortuary was made in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, ceme-tery, where James D. Chadwick offered of-fered the dedicatory prayer. JoAnn Chadwick, a grandaughter grandaugh-ter played processional organ music mu-sic and Roy Olpin of Fillmore offered off-ered the prayer in the home prior to the services. Pall bearers, all close relatives, were, Reuben Tomlinson, Wrenard Tomlinson, Rudger Smith, Roland and Russell Smith and Glade Cul-mer. Cul-mer. Mr. Culmer died at his home in Lindon after an extended illness. He was born in Pleasant Grove, March 16, 1884, a son of Alfred Edwin and Annie Jane Tomlinson Culmer. He had spent his entire life here as a farmer and painter. He had been active in civic and church affairs. He married Elizabeth Baxter, June 20, 1906. He was president of Orem Berry Growers Association for three years and filled two terns on Lindon Lin-don Town Board. He was an officer of-ficer in the Pleasant Grove Mutual Mut-ual Improvement Association, and was a high priest at the time of his death. Surviving are his widow, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove, two daughters and a son, Mrs. Elva Chadwick, American Ameri-can Fork; Mrs. Arlene Olpin, Fillmore, Fill-more, and Elmer Culmer, Lehi; a foster son, David H. Baxter, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove; and the following sisters: sist-ers: Mrs. Janie Banks, Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Florence Ball, Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove; Grace D. Culmer, Murray; Mur-ray; Mrs. Allie Richmond, Eugene, Oregon; Mrs. Violet Civish, Salt Lake City; and 10 grandchilldren. |
