Show Funeral Is Held Wednesday For Varion W. West The large First Ward Cliapel was well filled Wednesday afternoon after-noon with sorrowing relatives and friends who gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the memory of Varian White West, and express sympathy to the family. The touching and impressive service began at 2 o'clock with Ertman Christensen of the bishopric bish-opric in charge. Warren Kirk, accompanied by Mrs. Kirk sang the opening number. Invocation was offered by J. L. Adams. Speakers who paid tribute to the memory of the departed and spoke, words of faith and encouragement encour-agement to the family were- Benjamin Ben-jamin F. Adams. Bishop Lewis Olpin and William C. Smith. All spoke well of Mr. West, of thrift and honesty and hard work and told how in the face of heavy handicaps he maintained maintain-ed his cheery disposition and independence-. Other musical numbers included includ-ed an organ solo, O My Father, played by Mrs. Elwood Sundberg, a vocal duet, In the Garden, sung by Mrs. J. E. Hardman and Mrs. Leland Beers, and after closing remarks of sympathy and appreciation appre-ciation by Ertman Christensen, Warren Kirk, accompanied by Mrs. Kirk sang the closing number, num-ber, Sometime We'll Understand. Loren West pronounced the benediction. Internment .directed .direct-ed by Olpin Mortuary took place in the Pleasant Grove City cemetery, cem-etery, where Wayne Binns offered offer-ed the dedicatory prayer. Pallbcarervs were Gene Nelson, Donald Nelson, Gene Kirkbam, Kale Clauson, Howard Adamson, and Mack Adamson. Mr. West died Saturday in the American Fork hospital, following follow-ing a major operation. He was born November 1, 1904, in Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove a son of David F. and Caroline White West. He was educated ed-ucated in schools in Pleasant Grove. He married Edna Binns October Oct-ober 15, 1924, in Salt Lake City. Surviviors include his widow, and two sons. David F. and La-Vearl La-Vearl West, Pleasant Grove: the following brothers and sisters, Mrs.- Thora W. Clawson, , Mrs. Vene Zirge-r. Mrs. Bernice Lind-quist, Lind-quist, Elvin West, Sherwood West, all of Salt iake; Mrs. Dezzie Wotton, Mrs. .Rintah Nelson, Nel-son, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. Gilda Kirkham, Lehl; Noel West, San-taquin; San-taquin; Mrs. Berdie H.
