Show successful celebration fourth of july fiall in pa wai thoroughly enjoyed by town people and visitors visitor the celebration of the fourth ol of july in parowan win wag thoroughly en joyed by townspeople and visitors a like from cedar there were at least a couple of hundred people while lund the busy little railroad town lown sent over arace a ace delegation of live citizens among the lith littlest lest of whom was frank benner who certainly ke kept pt very friend and acquaintance he had flirted flitted with mirth from paragonah Para gonah gorah summit and the farms on the bottoms were noticed many people all of whom wore pleasant smiles and took in the festivities tivi ties of the day ay with delight early in the morning the autos began to roll in each filled with happy people intent on spending the day in the most enjoyable way pos pas sible his at about 10 the parade formed in the tabernacle square and passed through the principal streets of the city it was over a block in length and each vehicle was beautifully decor decorated atso the prize offered for the most beautifully decorated vehicle bei being ag woo won by ray mitchell whose car was certa certainly I 1 aly handsomely draped after the parade the people as in the city park and were treated to a most excellent program of musical numbers and speeches the talks were ven guen by hon wit wil ford rev rice and scott matheson Mathe soo each topic was appropriate to the occasion and very much enjoyed by those who heard them at the services the goddess of liberty was waa represented by miss min ora orton who was most beautifully dressed and whose appearance was the cause of much favorable comment and many compliments miss min beatrice dalton representing utah aas atas most moot beautiful and was the sinecure of the eyes of many a admire uncle sam was represented by scott matheson and he certainly looked the part and seemed to be at ease at all times he was called upon to give a speech by H J master of ceremonies and ad M mr r matheson certainly gave gaie a most interesting tere te talk hearing bearing upon pon the loyalty of the people to their country in the afternoon the children were entertained statistics at a dance especially prepared for them and it is said eaid that they enjoyed it a as children know how to enjoy clars daning z out on the fair grounds ground the older d people witness ball games be acen cedar lund and C cedar der and carowan parowan lined up for battle e birtt and after playing six innings which was the distance that the managers had agreed to go it was doand that parowan carowan was beaten to a frazzle only being able to make one tally in aa against 16 for our oar friends from little pittsburg at the completion of the game a rest was had and then lund lord lined up with a determination to 10 b beat eat the daylights out of I 1 I 1 the cedar boys boss in a six inning game game and they came near doing it too but at the end when the dust of the battle had cleared away and tallies counted it was found that cedar had won the game by one point the score being 10 to 9 at night the usual ball was giveand attended by a large crowd of happy young voting people thedy the day was successful unsuccessful from ev ery cry point of vie view w orid many of the visitors were heard to remark that it had been a long time a since they had enjoyed th emlein so 80 well weli at a fourth of july e celebration le bration |
