Show GDMihrasurfies Alice Orletta Hatch Davis Orletta Davis, a long-time resident of Wanship, died, Aug. 23 at her daughter's home in Salt Lake City. She was years old. Mrs. Davis was married to Charles D. Davis for 77 years. Her death 1 followed his by less than a year. He was 100 years old when he .died in Wanship last December. Orletta Davis was born Aug. 30, i888 in Vernal, Utah to Jeremiah and, Henrietta Hatch. It was there she met "Charlie," who was working on a neighboring ranch. They were married in 1906 and shortly afterwards moved to Snyderville. The couple lived and worked on the Bitner ranch and began to raise a family. Mrs. Davis cooked. for the ranch hands and served meals at the stage coach stop which was located in the old stone building that (till stands along . U.S. 80 near Kimballs Junction. ? ' , , -: In an interview with the Park Record on her husband's 100th birthday Mrs. Davis said she had happy memories of riding in a horse-drawn sled to dp the family shopping in Park City. She also recalled their first car, a Model T with eisenglass windows, which the young couple drove to the dances around the county. . In 1921 the Davises moved to Wanship. They raised 10 children of their own and two of Henrietta Hatch's children when Mrs. Hatch died. In raising her children Mrs. Davis told the Record she tried to stress education and learning. She was an active member of the LDS Church. Until her husband's death she maintained the family home in Wanship. She was an honored guest at the Park City Ladies Luncheon last spring. Orletta Davis is survived by eight children: Gwen Larsen of Wanship, Marie Pace, Kate Gutke, Genevieve Sargent of Salt Lake City, Alice Bennett of Pomona, California, Jess Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada, William Davis of Plainview, Texas, and Guy Davis of Fountain Valley, California.. She was buried Tuesday in Wanship. Amy Lynette Johnston Amy Lynnette Johnston died Aug. 21 in Naperviltej Illinois of injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was 14. Her mother was raised in Park City and both grandmothers have also lived in town. She was born Feb. 28, 1970 in Oakland, California to James C. and Vickie Provost Johnston. She was active in the student body and athletics at Salt Lake's Eisenhower Junior High School. Survivors are her parents, sister Laurie, brother Jason, all of Naperville, Illinois; grandparents Wayne C. Johnston, of Salt Lake; and Tina Provost of . Park City. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment was in the Park City Cemetery. |
