Show Assault in the ladies' powder room The big excitement at the Park City Police Department this past week was the discovery of a handgun on the Park City Municipal Golf Course grounds. The weapon may be linked to the Aug. 4 murder of Fred T. Duncan (see story on page one). In an otherwise average week in August, police officers took reports on stolen diesel fuel, caught some people using drugs and, yes, chased the cows out of Deer Valley again. On Aug. 28, Joyce Whitton telephoned the police from the Design Coalition shop on Main Street to report the theft of $325. According to the blotter, three suspects entered the store and engaged the proprietor with shopping shop-ping questions. While the clerk was busy at one end of the store, one of the suspects reportedly took the money from the cash box. Lee Wood of Paulsen Engineers reported the theft of a battery and a cable from a diesel truck at 2700 Deer Valley Road. He also told police during the last month over 100 gallons of diesel fuel has been stolen from vehicles on the construction site. Also on Aug. 28, Erika Rush phoned the Park City Police Department to announce the cows were back in Deer Valley. During a routine patrol of Prospector Square on the night of Aug. 27, Park City Police officers noticed a blue Toyota pickup truck parked at the new 7-11 store. After talking to the passengers in the truck, police decided to search the vehicle. Officers found what appeared to be marijuana, methamphetamines, a pipe, a bong, a syringe, roach clips and a vial of an unknown liquid substance. A 28-year-old Salt Lake City man and a 25-year-old Salt Lake City woman were issued citations and released. A 31 -year-old Park City man was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication intoxi-cation and assault of a police officer Aug. 26. According to the police report, officers observed the man standing in a stall in the women's rest room on the lower level of the Memorial Building inhaling a white powdery substance through a rolled-up $1 dollar bill. The suspect tried to destroy the evidence by throwing it into the toilet. When the officer reached down to try to grab the evidence, the suspect reportedly assaulted the officer. He was booked into the County Jail. Both Charles McAllister and Ed Archer reported the theft of BMX bicycles from the Homestake Condominiums Condo-miniums this week. Adolph Imboden called the police Aug. 23 to report a theft from a cigarette machine at Adolph's Restaurant. According to the report, persons unknown entered the west door of Adolph's and broke into the machine. Listed as missing are 300 packages of cigarettes and $125 in cash. Also on Aug. 23, Jim Nak reported that he lost his wallet at the top of Park Avenue. It is described as purple and contains $447 in cash. Fifth Circuit Court Ernie Scow was found guilty of reckless driving in Judge Michael K. Burton's Fifth Circuit Court Aug. 24. The charge was reduced from DUI when police could not produce intoxylizer results. Scow was fined $405. |
