For their first meeting, the ladies set up committees, discussed fund raising projects, served a buffet for the men, and picked up five new members. The women also planned a costume party for October 26th. In the past, the Ladies of the Elks have been very successful fund raisers. The organization has been effective in raising money for nursing scholarships, and in securing funds for the Ogden School for the Blind. In connection with the School for the Blind, the women raised enough money to buy two pairs of glasses costing $400 each for two previously blind children. The ladies have also been influential in securing playground equipment and an insured station wagon for the school. This year, the Ladies of the Elks plan to support Girls Village. Located in Kearns, Utah, the village is for young women with behavior problems. The Ladies of the Elks can be joined by wives or widows of Elks.
