Our goal is and always has been, to provide to you a tale and dependable supply ol drinking water. Our water comes from three wells and one sprmg that provide groundwater. Alpine City has a Drinking Water Source Protection Plan that is available tor review. It provides more jnkrmaiion such as potential sources Of contamination and our source protection areas. It has been determined we have a medium susceptibility level to potential sources of contamination, such as septic tanks, roads, and homes. If you have any questions regarding source protection, contact the office to fevww our source protection plan. If you nave any questions about this report or concerning your water utility, please contact Shane Sorensen (801 ) 763-9962. We want our valued customers to be informed about their water utility. If you want to team more, please attend any of our regularly sctieduled meetings. Water system related issues are dealt with at city council meetings held the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at the Alpine City Hall at 7 p.m. All sources of drinking water are subject to potential contamination by constituents that are naturally occurring or are man made. Those constituents can be microbes, organic or inorganic chemicals, or radioactive materials. All drinking water, including bottled water, may reasonably be expected to contain at least small amounts Of some contaminants. The presence of contaminants does not necessarily indicate that the water poses a health risk. More information about contaminants and potential health efiects can be obtained by calling the Environmental Protection Agency's Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1-800-4264791. ' 8 Some people may be more vulnerable to contaminants in drinking water than the general population. Inimuno-compromised persons such as persons wrth cancer undergoing chemotherapy, persons who nave undergone organ transplants, people with HIVAIDS or other immune system disorders, some elderly, and infants can be particularly at risk from infections. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their hearth care providers. EPA'CDC guidelines on appropriate means to lessen the risk of infection by Cryptosporidium and other microbiological contaminants are available from the Safe Drinking Drink-ing Water Hotline (800-426-4791). Detected Contaminant Table definitions: Action Level (AL) - the concentration of a contaminant which, If exceeded, triggers treatment or other fequirements which a water system must follow. Treatment Technique (TX) - A treatment technique is a required process intended to reduce the level of a contaminant in drinking water. Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) - The "Maximum Allowed" (MCL) is the highest level Of a contaminant thai is allowed m drmkmg water. WICLs are set as close to the MCLGs as -feasible using ihe best available treatment technology. Maximum Contaminant Level Goal (MCLG) - The Goa!"(MCLG) is the level of a contaminant in drinking water below which there is no known or expected Tisk to hearth. MCLGs allow for a margin of safety. Alpine City has chosen to publish 1his report m the local newspaper as the method Of delivery to the residents. Copies Of the report will not be mailed out to each resident, however you may call the Alpine City Hall at 756-6347 to request a copy Of the report or you may view the report at www.alpmecity.org. Water Quality Data Table ; The table below lists all of the drinking water contaminants that we detected during the calendar year -of thus report. The presence of -contaminants in the water does not necessarily indicate (that flhe water poses a health risk. Unless other wise noted the data presented in this table is from testing done in the calendar year of the report. The EPA or the State req aires us to monitor for certain contaminants less than once per year because the concentrations of ithese contaminants do not change frequently.
