Not so at Cascade Elementary, Elemen-tary, where the after school homework club has more than 15 members. Amanda Miller, one of the school's third grade teachers, started the homework club in October, and interest in the activity ac-tivity has steadily grown. "I wanted to make a way that every kid could have time to do homework with someone who can help them," Miller said. But the homework club is not just a study hall. Club members mem-bers share a healthy snack, which Miller said can help revitalize their brains because lunch was a long time ago, and then students pair up to work on assignments. rol The following is Orem High School's honor roll for the third term of the 2006-2007 school year: 10th Grade High Honor Roll 3.95-4.00 David Barley, Trevor Beck-stead, Beck-stead, Collin Black, Tyler Boulter, Boul-ter, Tawni Bowman, Elizabeth Brewer, Mercede Broderick, Aimee Burton, Bronson Bush-nell, Bush-nell, Brittany Cam, Mariita Carter, S Lance Chatterley, Kendra Christensen, Katherine Clark, Michael Clark, Emily Clayton, Maquel Clegg, Brian Cushing, Ashleigh Dickerson, Luise Dietrich, Samentha Dort, Shane Evans, Vance Faalafua, Stephanie Fiso, Britta Frazier, Dustin Furner, Melissa Gee, Taylor Glad, Chase Gluch, Miriam Mir-iam Gonzalez, Bryan Grover, Johnathan Hale, Sarah Hansen, Han-sen, Danae Harding, Alondra Hernandez, Travis Hoki, Alexander Alex-ander Holmes, Brett Huntington, Hunting-ton, Rachelle Hyatt, Brooke Irvin, Kailyn Jackson, Haley Jeffs, Misha Jenkins, Lauryn Jensen, Melissa Johnson, R Suzanne Su-zanne Jordan, Hailey Kern, Michael Mi-chael Kim, Taylor King, Shelley Shel-ley Larsen, Robert Lau, Lisa Love, Jaynann Matthews, Brian Bri-an Mcneill, Neil Monroe, Mary Monsen, Kristen Olsen, Jacob Parker, Jacob Parmley, Adam Piccolo, April Robins, David Rowe, Brittany Smart, Adam Smith, Haley Soper, Timothy Stokes, Andrew Stone, Caden Tregeagle, Mikkel Unrau, Megan Webb, Kelsey Wells, Amanda Williamson, Tanisia Wilson, Edward Winkleman, Delcie Woodis, Allison Wool-ley, Wool-ley, Beth Worthington. 10th grade Honor Roll 3.70-3.949 Chelsey Akana, Jessica Allen, Al-len, Samantha Anderson, Anna Bean, Cameron Birrell, Kelsie Birrell, Lauren Brady, Jacob Brickey, Brittany Buckwalter, Ryan Bulloch, Kurtis Christensen, Chris-tensen, Ashlee Curtis, Nellie Dayton, Sarah Downing, Todd Dunaway, Michael Duval, Amy Ebert, Jordan Egbert, Katherine Erickson, Allyson Fowler, Steven Gay, Olivia I KNOW YOUR HOME'S VALUE, IT'S NO SECRET CALL TODAY 1-888-482-0340 ext 100 NO HASSLE - NO OBLIGATION tS? Miller said the club usually starts with math homework home-work because most of the students need some extra help with that subject. "Generally everybody has math homework," she said. Many of the club's members, however, do not need extra help. They just need a good place to work on their assignments assign-ments and the club is open to everyone, whether they need assistance or not. "They just need the time and the place to get their homework done," Miller said. "They don't necessarily need the help." After students have finished their homework assignments, the club wraps up with reading Graves, Candice Gurr, Joshua Hamblin, Christophe Hatch, Adrienne Hawkins, Angela Helsten, Jacob Hillman, Risa Jackson, Collin Jensen, Jacob Jensen, Nathaniel Jensen, Jacob Ja-cob Jones, Courtney Kezerian, Mallory Layton, Steven Linge, Erin Mason, Johnna Maughan, Lisbet Moreno, Jovanny Nar-ciso, Nar-ciso, Samuel Nicholes, Bryce Olsen, Katelyn Olsen, Matthew Packer, Cassie Rasmussen, Spencer Robinson, Sarah Rus-so, Rus-so, Katelyn Schroeder, Parker Shumway, Shelby Simmons, Parker Sorenson, Jordynn Stayner, Madeline Stevens, Tori Thompson, Steven Warner, War-ner, Andie Young, Eric Young, Ashlee Zimmer. 11th grade High Honor Roll 3.95-4.00 Nathan Adamson, Angelo Aulestia, Regan Bailey, Lacey Balser, Britn Bartholomew, Sarah Bartlett, David Berge-son, Berge-son, Anne Biegler, Michael Black, Kristin Bowles, Whitney Whit-ney Bunker, Megan Burten-shaw, Burten-shaw, Tyson Cantrell, Spencer Carrier, Michelle Carter, Victoria Chavez, Bailey Cor-bridge, Cor-bridge, Tyler Crandall, Shawn Crawley, Megan Cross, Kenny Crump, Michael Davis, R Allen Davis, Juan Diaz de Leon, Ruth Duersch, Laura Dyer, Kinnison Edmunds, Kristen Erickson, S Blake Farley, Braedon Fletcher, Michelle Foster, Matthew Mat-thew Gamett, Kayley Gardner, Gard-ner, Makayle Gowans, Ryan Graham, Madelaine Graves, Bethany Hardman, Katherine Hart, Mandi Heiner, Mckenna Henkel, Rachel Herrmann, Kara Hill, Jenale Holt, Gary Houskeeper, Abigail Hulme, Rebecca Isaacson, D Colt on Jackson, Ryan Jenkins, Whitney Whit-ney Johnson, Derek Jones, Adam Judd, Jenelle Killpack, Mckenzie Lambright, Brianne Larsen, Falakika Latu, Jessica Leavitt, Abraham Leon, Jaime Lyons, Logan Mcneil, Christophe Chris-tophe Mcneili, Jeffrey Mella, Jessica Miller, Tiana Moe, Peter Pe-ter Moody, Heather Morgan, Tyler Moss, Jun Mutaguchi, James Nelson, Alexandrea Nichols, Gary Nuttall, Kelsea Park, Megan Payne, Paul Peay, Brandon Petersen, Brigitte Peterson, Nathan Peterson, Aubrey Au-brey Pimsakul, Ashley Poulos, Jeremiah Robinson, Braedon Roney, Alyson Sabin, Yuki Sambongi, Paymon Sanati-mehrizy, Sanati-mehrizy, Brian Sheide, Rachel 6'x 12' 10pc Ordar EZTI Large Bow Fh-1 Gate J Gates Panels 768-3332 for a Free Stock Price List Hours: M-F 8-5 SAT 8-NOON a practice or working on multiplication multi-plication tables, spelling words or other flashcard drills, extra practice that Miller said helps students sharpen their skills. Miller and other teachers have seen marked improvement improve-ment in the grades of the homework club members, and Miller attributes that success to the hard work the students put into the after school time. Furthermore, Fur-thermore, as students' grades improve, their behavior and social skills also improve. "When you do your homework home-work and you work hard your grades go up,' Miller said. "You feel better about school. It's just so good for the kids' self confidence and self image." im-age." Parents and teachers are also seeing the value of the homework club, and Miller said that many club members are referred to the group by concerned teachers and parents. par-ents. Once they see the positive effects, students frequently remain in the club even after their grades improve. After all, she said, everyone is welcome in the club regardless regard-less of grade level or academic performance, whereas tutoring tutor-ing is generally reserved for students whose grades are suffering. suf-fering. To celebrate students' successes and emphasize the camaraderie of the club, Miller said she may also plan an end-of-year party for members. The Cascade Elementary homework club meets from 2:154:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students from every grade level are welcome, regardless of academic performance.
