Sometime on Friday night, September 1, our property in Nordic Valley was toilet papered along with several other not so mischievous acts. I was away from home at the time and was spared the mess. I am grateful to my friend Terry, and two neighborhood boys for cleaning up. Terry said that no expense was spared on the quantity and quality of products used to do this job. The little darlings used shaving creme, toothpaste and deodorant to write on the door, wall, windows and sidewalk. They also egged the walkway and scattered several other products around the yard. Needless to say, these products are extremely difficult to cleanup, and they stain—especially eggs. I am still trying to remove stains and graffiti. An act such as this is more than mischief. It is vandalism. The girls who did this know who they are. It does not pay to brag. Would you like it if your property had been defaced and you had to clean it? It might be appropriate for the sheriff to come to Snowcrest and give a little lecture on the difference between mischief and vandalism. Of course most parents teach their children that it is not acceptable to participate in such activities, but a little reminder does no harm. Beverly Villata Eden, Utah Ve Vant Eyore Blood! Huntsville Resident Receives Injuries By Shanna Francis Ogden Valley News Staff On August 20, at about 2:30 p.m. a 69-year-old Huntsville resident was accidentally shot in the back with a shotgun near Ant Flats on Monte Cristo off of Highway 39. The accident occurred during a bird-hunting trip after a member of the hunting party stepped outside of the party’s vehicle, then climbed back into the rear seat to determine why the gun had not discharged after trying to hit a target. The gun then discharged accidentally, with the steel shot traveling through the front seat into the victim’s lower right back area. A member of the party was able to call for help on a cell phone. Dispatch contacted Sergeant Ryon Hadley, who happened to be only about a mile from the scene of the accident. Sergeant Hadley arrived within minutes. An Air Med transport helicopter was called in. Emergency personnel from the Eden Fire Station also arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to McKay Dee Hospital via helicopter. As of September 21, the victim was in stable condition.
