All of Toni’s pieces are Ogden Valley Branch Library, 131 S. 7400 E. in Huntsville. Toni began her art career at age seven when she sold her first poster painting to Mrs. Perrin, her 2nd grade teacher. She has continued her investigations into paint, ceramics, and stained glass ever since. For the past four years she has divided her time between her mountain home in Huntsville, Utah and a small farm in Sheridan, California, finding painting and pottery inspiration in both locations. Toni is a great believer in finding pleasure in the simple beauty of everyday objects. Her ceramics are created to offer tactile and visual satisfaction as one goes about the normal activities of the day. She economical, original, handmade, and of limited issue. She uses sturdy medium/ high fire stoneware and lead free glazes. All her work is microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe. In addition to creating, Toni finds time to teach. She has earned a Master’s of Art Education from Brigham Young University and holds a B.A. with teaching credentials from CSU Sacramento. She instructs both children and adults in the crafts of acrylic painting, oil painting, design, and ceramics. This summer there will be something for each member of the family. Booth fees are extremely reasonable. The 2009 market will take place once again in Old Town Eden, named appropriately by owners Ben and Becky Toone, located directly behind Harley & Buck’s now famous restaurant. In the parking lot, which will be safely blocked off for pedestrians only, the market will fill the area in front of the popular fitness center—High Altitude Fitness—and just down the pathway from Dottie Beck’s inimitable gift shop with soon to be bookshop. Mark your calendars now for Saturday May 23, Memorial Day Weekend. The Farmers and Artists Market will open with an inspiring and fun ceremony not to be missed. The Farmers and Artist Market will run from 9:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. every Saturday throughout the spring, summer, and into the fall. Whatever it may be, the Farmers and Artists Market staff encourages you to bring it forth in time for Memorial Day weekend. If you have an idea, contact us for more ideas and direction. Also, if you have a green thumb and can “plant an extra row” with your kids at home, then the kids can bring their handpicked veggies and/or flowers to the market to sell on their own. No booth fee! The Market is a kid-friendly place! Who knows, you might see young Ethan Toone riding his antique bicycle-powered ice cream cart! His creamcicles are delicious on a hot summer day. In order to expand the marketing efforts and to get Old Town Eden Market on the map, we are seeking sponsors at the $250, $150, and $100 level. Certain benefits will apply at the different levels of sponsorship with the sponsors’ logo displayed on Market publicity materials. This year’s market will initiate an “Antiques and Collectibles” component in which people, under certain guidelines, will be able to sell antiques, grandma’s old dishes, cut glass, silver, quilts, items from their prized M&M collection, and used rare, and not-so-rare, books. The staff invites each and everyone with a desire to take part in this fun and colorful community series to contact Marsha Rasmussen at 801-745-0584 or Linda Knudtson at 801745-6662.
