Show Volume II, Issue XV THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 15 1 August 2000 Eden Gearing Up for Annual Balloon Fest This year’s Ogden Valley’s own Eden Park Balloon Fest will be held August 25-27 at the Eden Park. The Eden Park Board is excited for yet another successful Balloon Fest. Over 20 balloons, 100 booths, a food court, fireworks, and entertainment will contribute to the festivities. This year a number of caricature balloons will be added, including the Smokey Bear Balloon! The Smokey Bear Balloon will be accompanied by fire prevention displays and materials, and a special visit by Smokey the Bear. To see the balloons being inflated and launched, you need to get to the park early in the morning. Early morning provides the calmest and most optimal conditions for flying balloons. The launching will take place between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. Breakfast will be available at the park on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Balloon launches are subject to weather conditions, wind and thunder- storms being the biggest concern. The balloonists will be competing for cash prizes in events both Saturday and Sunday mornings. An award ceremony will be held Sunday. All activities will take place at the Eden Park in Ogden Valley. The Balloon Fest is sponsored by the Eden Park Service District, with proceeds supporting the maintenance and improvement of the Eden Community Park. Entrance to the events is free. There will be a charge for food and game booths. There will also be free parking available in designated areas around the park. Handicap parking will also be made available. Bring the kids and enjoy the August fest at the Eden Park! Water only in the evenings or early morning hours to get the most benefit from this program. Until Utah Power & Light gets the power to the new well, we will have to continue this program to conserve water. Your cooperation is deeply appreciated by your water operator. 82 Years Ago J.M.
