Show Page 10 THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Volume V, Issue XII April 1, 2002 Announcements Missionaries Obituaries Elder Joshua David Welsh, son of David and Rebecca Welsh of Eden, will serve in the Houston Texas South Mission. He spoke at the Eden 1st Ward on March 10. Elder Joshua Holley, son of Richard and Mary Ann Holley of Huntsville, will serve in the Micronesia Guam Mission. He spoke at the Middle Fork Ward in Eden on March 17. Elder Shane J. Martin, son of Don and Trudi White of Pleasant View, and Mike and Brenda Martin of Eden, will serve in the Texas Houston East Mission. He spoke at the Pleasant View 3rd Ward on March 17. Birthdays Deem Lucille Weaver Deem of Huntsville celebrated her 90th birthday on March 10. She was born March 11, 1912, in Perry, to James Albert and Dollie Emily-Cook Weaver. She married Parley G. Deem on December 6, 1930. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. She worked for many years for the Bellflower California School District. Her interests include dancing and growing flowers. Her five daughters and their spouses are Boyd and Norma Christensen, Jerald and Shirley Engstrom, Scott and Eleanor Christensen, Robert and Marilyn Steele and Peter and Par Ceil Valora. The event was celebrated at an open house on March 10, at the home of her daughter, Shirley Engstrom of Huntsville. Weddings Foster-Richardson Joseph and Donna Foster of Ashton, Idaho, announce the marriage of their daughter, Susan Foster, to Bryce J. Richardson. He is the son of Delwyn and Williamena Richardson of Huntsville. They were married on Saturday, March 9, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. A reception was held in their honor that evening in Ashton. An open house was held Friday, March 15, at the Huntsville LDS 1st Ward. The couple will make their home in Ashton, Idaho. The bridegroom served in the Argentina Cordoba LDS Mission. He attends Brigham Young University in Idaho. The bride graduated from Ricks College and Utah State University. She is employed as an elementary teacher in Driggs, Idaho. Athleen Hardy TOGETHER AGAIN BRIGHAM CITY - Linda Athleen Felt Hardy, 74, died March 16, 2002 surrounded by her family. She was born August 2, 1928 in Huntsville, Utah, the fourth of eight daughters to John Earl and Myrtle Unsworth Felt. She attended Ogden Valley and Weber High School where she graduated in 1946. She married the boy next door, Ray Hardy on December 5, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died December 14, 2000. Together they raised and are survived by their six children: Sheryl (Norwin) Andreasen of Smithfield, Roy (Karla) Hardy of Willard, Keith (Ronda) Hardy of Brigham City, Debbie (Terry) Braegger of St. George, Annette (Lynn) Farner of Tremonton, Dr. Scott (Lisa) Hardy of Castledale; 25 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; six sisters: Beth Lowe of Ogden, Alice Kearl of Ogden, Jackie Shaw of Liberty, Loris Allen of Huntsville, Gaye McKay of Twin Falls, Idaho, and Jan Drake of Logan. She was preceded in death by her sister Dianne, her parents, her grandson Heath, and great-grandson McCaden. Athleen worked at various jobs to help support her family, and was always found working alongside her husband. She enjoyed cooking for others, and was famous for her hot rolls. Athleen loved to quietly serve, and gave herself freely to her family, friends and neighbors. She exemplified a compassionate heart. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery. Brent Lewis Carver EDEN - Brent L. Carver, 56, beloved husband, father, son and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at his home in Eden following a courageous battle with cancer. His wife Carol, and many of his loving family members were at his bedside. He was born February 26, 1946, in Ogden, Utah, a son of Truman H. and Vivian Harrington Carver. On August 4, 1966, Brent married Jan Nelson. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Jan preceded him in death on July 19, 1982. Bringing many years of love and companionship was Carol Rasley, whom he married on July 24, 1986, in Kaysville, Utah. Brent received his education in the Spring Opening April 1st! He began his career with the Internal Revenue Service where he was currently employed as a Program Manager, with over 36 years of service. He had a great love for his job, as well as for the many special friendships with his fellow associates. Brent was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving faithfully in many important callings. At the time of his death he was serving in the Bishopric of the Eden 1st Ward. He was actively involved in the Scouting Program, which was always a very important part of his life. Brent enjoyed many sports—from playing basketball for Davis High School, to hunting and being outdoors with friends and family. A jack of all trades— a master carpenter—Brent loved to build and give to his friends log furniture. Always willing to help others, he was instrumental in organizing fund-raisers for the establishment of the Eden Town Park, and served as President of that committee for a number of years. “BC” as he was affectionately known, spent most weekends with his grandchildren who brought him much comfort and happiness. He had a special interest in their activities, and took great pride in their accomplishments. They will be forever blessed by his influence in their lives. Brent set an example for all of us by practicing, in his daily life, the ideals and beliefs he professed, remaining faithful in his religious beliefs and enduring to the end. He is survived by his wife Carol; children: Taun Carver and her husband Scott Bagshaw; Bart Carver; Tyler (Courtney) Rasley; Lani Rasley and her husband Jim Seeger; Amy Rasley; and Ryan (Eden) Rasley; eight grandchildren: Kalie, Kade, and Kenzi Carver; Lawson, Macy, Matthew, Natalee and Jaeden Rasley; his parents, Truman H. and Vivian Carver; two brothers, Truman R. (Kathy), and Michael Carver. “Brent, your smile, your gentle manor, your helpful hands will be deeply missed.” Love, Carol, Mom, Dad and family.
