The Ogden Canyon Club will set up aid stations within the canyon. We need volunteers! If you would like to join in this fun-filled event, call Lorine Murtagh, 392-8743. Come and join your canyon neighbors in making this a successful event! 392-8743 Work Resumes on the Ogden Canyon Limestone Kiln Your volunteer labor and dollars are needed to complete the reconstructing kiln project. Many hours have already been spent digging out the kiln, preparing the slopes for landscaping, and gathering the rocks and bricks that will be used to reconstruct the kiln. We can’t stop now. The goal is to restore this stone and masonry kiln as close as possible to its former structural state in order to maintain its status as a historical landmark. Reconstructing the kiln will allow school kids, hikers, and visitors to the canyon a chance to absorb some of the history of the early canyon dwellers, and their contributions to the building up of Ogden City. If you or your organization would like to help with this project, contact Lorine Murtagh, 392-8743. Eden, UT 84310 Dear Friends of Ogden Canyon, Please join us! Ogden Canyon is among the most beautiful places in northern Utah, having been designated as a scenic byway. We are trying to keep it that way, but need your help. Our canyon needs a unified voice to seek the preservation and restoration of its scenic and aesthetic value to canyon users, residents, and enthusiasts. Places such as the Ogden Canyon have a long history of being “improved” beyond recognition, as the once scenic and wild place. A “close to home example” is the once beautiful Weber River which has been straightened and lined with stone, and Weber Canyon paved with a four lane highway. I’m sure you have a story of some location where these things have happened, and probably wonder how it did happen. With the building growth in the Ogden Valley and its effects on the canyon, we need your help and membership which strengthens the organization, broadens our support base, and increases our influence. The tax deductible yearly membership dues are $10.00 which includes a subscription to the publication carrying the Ogden Canyon Club newsletter. Since the club is a non-profit, privately funded organization, we can also accept donations. One more request from you! Here is your chance to become part of your community! If you, or someone you know (with their approval) want to serve on the board, enter your/their name next to the position of office on the nomination form and send to Ogden Canyon Club, P.O. Box 1766, Ogden, UT 84401. Oh, by the way–our club will resume restoration of the limestone kiln, located at the Indian trail head, as soon as weather permits. We need your help! Donations are accepted. Also, we need your expertise in stone masonry, landscaping, or labor. Just let us know how you can help. Call Lorine Murtagh, 392-8743. COME AND JOIN US!
