Wardley The seven sons of Chad and Wendy McKay of Huntsville; Will, Colton, Jacob, Hudson, Gabriel, Brigham and Tanner, are proud to announce the arrival of their baby sister! Hannah Isabelle McKay born on May 15, 2001 at 6:31 a.m. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz., and was 20 and one-half inches. HUNTSVILLE — Wayne Max Wardley, 83, died Thursday, May 31, 2001 at Ogden Regional Medical Center. He was born January 7, 1918 in Salt Lake City, a son of Frank and Rae Phillips Wardley. Wayne married Jenetta Jessperson. She preceded him in death. He married Naomi Beth White in Yuma, Arizona. They were later divorced. He grew up in Salt Lake City and Enterprise (Peterson), Utah. He also lived in Los Angeles, California and Ogden. Wayne was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He enlisted in the service in 1941 with the 222nd Field Artillery Battalion. He was a Staff Sergeant and highly decorated for his bravery in the Philippine Islands. He was the owner and operator of The Oak Tree Restaurant and W.C.’s. He had also managed The Pilot Drive Inn, The Mt. Lomond Cafe, The Trocodero, Mark’s Inn, El Chiko Club, The Chick Chick Inn, and the American Legion. Wayne had a great zest for life and loved snowmobiling, horseback riding, and the outdoors. He owned, bred, and trained Arabian Horses. Surviving are one son and two daughters, Wayne M. (Stefanie) Wardley, Huntsville; Patricia A. Wagner, Ogden; Torri (Troy) Valdez, Roy; three stepchildren, Chris Grant, Judy Speigle, Linda McKenzie, and 22 grandchildren. Wayne is also survived by one sister, Faye Moyers, Portland, Oregon. Preceding him in death was one brother. Special thanks to Russell Childs for his kindness; the nurses at Ogden Regional Medical Center; and to the team of doctors at the University of Utah. His love of life, his charm, charisma, class and allure, were unsurpassed. His positive attitude carried him through the roughest of times. Through all his trials and tribulations, he never lost his wonderful optimism. He loved to laugh and socialize and was a joy to be around. The special spirit of this man was not only magnetic, but enchanting. His precious smile lit up the lives of all who knew him. We will love and miss him forever. Funeral services were held at the graveside on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Enterprise Cemetery. Hannah Isabelle McKay Allen and Susan Jorgenson of Huntsville had a baby boy on May 17. Young Womanhood Sandi Lyn Clapperton, 19, daughter of Alan and Ramona Clapperton of Huntsville, received her Young Womanhood award. She is a graduate of Weber High School. Eagle Scouts Ryder Holmes, 16, Troop 249 son of Carol and Mitch Holmes of Liberty has earned his Eagle Scout Award. He is a student at Weber High School. Recipe of the Month Steak and Potato Soup 1 lb. ¾ inch thick boneless beef top sirloin steak 2 (14 oz.) cans beef broth 1 large chopped onion 3 red potatoes, peeled and diced ½ pound baby carrots 1 cup frozen peas ¼ cup chopped assorted fresh herbs 2 tablespoons balsamic or red wine vinegar 2 teaspoons vegetable oil ½ teaspoon coarsely ground black pepper Trim fat from steak. Cut steak lengthwise into three strips and then crosswise into ½ thick pieces. In large saucepan, combine broth, onion, potatoes, carrots and peas. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Simmer uncovered 15 minutes, or until vegetables are tender. Stir in herbs and vinegar. Meanwhile, in a large non-stick skillet, heat oil over mediumhigh heat until hot. Add beef (half at a time) and stir-fry 3-4 minutes or until outside surfaces are no longer pink (do not overcook). Season with pepper. Place equal amounts of beef into 4 individual soup bowls. To serve, ladle vegetables and broth mixture over beef. Serve immediately. Serves four. Do You Have Clothing You Don’t Need Anymore?
