Show www “THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS December Being Prepared for an Emergency—/72 Hour Kits In November, Valley residents were invited to a community emergency preparedness night to learn about the essentials that every family or individual should have on hand in the event ofa community emergency. Specifically, those attending learned about items needed to build a basic 72 Hour Kit—items organized and ready at a moment’s notice. These are the basic essential items most likely needed to survive the first 72 hours of a community disaster. The objective is to have “ready to grab” container with all essential items you and your family may most likely need to sustain yourself for this first 72-hours after an emergency— the critical time before help may be able to arrive to provide additional aid. Often in an emergency, there is not sufficient time to gather up these needed items. That is why every individual should already have the items gat ered and stored in an easily accessible “kit” that is placed where it can be easily “grabbed” on a way out the door. k all items in plastic Ziploc type a to keep them dry and air tight. More Volunteers Needed Many more volunteers are needed for CERT training for the Ogden Valley Team. A new CERT training class will begin Saturday, January 7, 2006, and will continue for three Saturdays. The cost is $25, which includes the cost of necessary equipment/supplies and a training nanual. Please participate in this valuable community endeavor; be ready in the event of an emergency. Youth volunteers helped create Darla Weston at the realism at the event and acted as victims. The Ogden Valley CERT Team is a group of your neighbors trained to provide “backup” to county trained emergency personnel.
