Stitt at tbH Wilson, the newly elected Socialist er 0, mayor of this city, struck his first considerable snag in practical politics today, when he successfully opposed the selection of a city attorney proposed pro-posed by a Socialist and aided in the election of another one. Mayor Wilson, following tills act, was asked to appear before a meetiug of the organization and explain himself him-self and further was quizzed as to why he had not presented to the party his resignation to be used at his supporters' support-ers' discretion, according to Socialistic usage "The meeting is set for the night of the regular council meeting and L cannot can-not go," said Mayor Wilson tonight. "As to the resignation, I do not Intend to offer one." Wilson's election attracted much comment, because it was asserted he polled a strong vote from the faculty and students of the University of California, Cali-fornia, which is located here, oo |
