March 1. Presi-dent Presi-dent James Lynch, of the International Typographical union, who Is in Washington, Wash-ington, ga,ve out a statement tonight in which he said the strike of printers against the Hearst newspapers in I Chicago was unwise, illegal and. irre- I spective of outcome, would be disastrous to the cause of union labor. He added that when members of the Typographical union understood the facts they would be unanimous in condemnation con-demnation of tho Chicago demonstration demonstra-tion against a publisher of eight union newspnpers. Tho International Typographical Typo-graphical union, he said, would stand for the protection and fulfilment of its contracts and tho members of the Chicago, Typographical union would be the first to take this stand when tho real conditions wero understood by them. rc |
