Show H THIS PAPER COMMENDED. The papers of the state are congratulating this paper on its Bf fight? against the "Grocers' Combine." One or two of our contem- H poraries have reproduced the prayer of the old lady who asked for a H ' long life for the editor in his opposition to high prices. H The Salina Call, edited by C. N. Lund, in reproducing the prayer, Hj says: H "We wish to say that the Ogden paper has performed a great H work in hammering down the high prices of the grocery trust." H These commendations are a source of comfort. The labors of this H paper are to prove of benefit to the whole state, and that is why the H press of the state is intently watching the contest and offering the H Standard encouragement. If we break down the "Grocers' Com- H bine" in this city, the branches of the combine in Provo, in Logan, H l and in all the towns where the outlandish conspiracy has existed, H must wither and die. Hr J It may be that, because of the legal advice they have received, H as to how to evade the law on conspiracy and boycott, the combine H will escape successful prosecution, but the organization cannot H escape public sentiment and public censure, which, after all, is a Hj more powerful corrective than the law. H The members of the combine have been given ample warning H that this demand for fair dealing is to go on until the people win out, H and they would do well to gracefully bow down to the inevitable. |
