Show TWO CHOIRS AT THE CHAUTAUQUA As the result of a conference with President Joseph F Smith of the first presidency. Rev. F V Fisher announced an-nounced last evening that the Salt Lake tabernacle choir would be heard in a concert at the Ogden Chautauqua assembly in July. This Is considered a signal triumph for the Chautauqua management in view of the fadt that the Ogden Tabernacle Tab-ernacle choir haB also been secured to furnish music on the opening day and also at the two Sunday meetings. The fact that these two great choirs will bo heard during the coming assembly as-sembly gives the management an opportunity op-portunity to offer to the people of this city and community something which no other Chautauqua management in the country Is able to offer Sometime ago the board of directors of tho Chautauqua extended an invitation invi-tation to the Ogden tabernacle choir to be the official choir of the assembly assem-bly In July and it was promptly accepted ac-cepted by Prof Joseph Ballantyne. The choir will lead in the great choral chor-al concert to be given on the opening day Yesterday Rev Fisher went to Salt Lake City to make arrangements for the appearance of the Zlon choir During his conference with President Smith the high officials of the church went oVer the Chautauqua program in detail and expressed themselves as highly pleased So much so. in fact, that President Smith gave Mr Fisher an official letter instructing Prof Ean Stephens, director of the Salt Lake choir, to accept the Invitation of the Chautauqua official. Prof Stephens promised to send about throe hundred members of the Suit Lake choir to this city and it Is quite probable that the' grand concert con-cert will be given on the evening of Women's day, July 26 It is the Intention In-tention to make this a grand Utah concert of Utah music and those attending at-tending will be able to hear many of the numbers which the choir will render while on its proposed tour east lu the fall. The securing of the two great musical mu-sical organizations can bo taken as another indication of the success of Ogdcn's first Chautauqua assembly. The concerts to be given by the1 choirs, together with the many other distinguished numbers on the program, pro-gram, will make the Ogdon Chautauqua Chautau-qua one of the very best in the United Uni-ted States. The management has obtained the promise of special rateB on all railroads rail-roads throughout the intormountain country and It is believed that the Chautauqua will be the means of deriving de-riving an immense amount of advertising adver-tising for Ogden. |
