Show 1 HQ'S MHE!S New York, Dec. 29. It required but little buying to restore prices to yesterday's yes-terday's final quotations, steel, coppers and some of the purely speculative issued is-sued rebounding easily. Texas company com-pany Increased Its lead to 6 1-2 points and other oils made more moderate response. Bethlehem Steel rose 20 points and the lower priced munitions and equipments also hardned. Trad-, ing became very dull on the rally until un-til selling of the motors provoked further fur-ther heaviness. Studebaker broke 4 3-4 points with 2 to 5 points for Willys-Overland, Chandler, General Motors Mo-tors and Saxon. Ralls were lethargic and Irregular. Bonds were firm. Chicago Grain Chicago, Dec. 29. Continued urgency urg-ency of export demand rallied the wheat market today after an early decline. Dispatches from Liverpool referring to a scarcity of supplies there and showing an advance in j quotations tended also to give an ad- vantage to the bulls. The temporary initial weakness here was associated with downturns in Wall street values. Opening prices, which ranged from unchanged figures to lc lower with I May at $1.72 3-4 to 1.73 and July at 1.38 to 1.38 7-8, were followed by moderate further losses and then a rise all around to well above yesterday's yester-day's finish. Corn hardened owing to opinions expressed that the high price of hogs warranted an advance. Exporters were said also to be active bidders for January-February shipment. After opening 3-8l-2c off to l-2c up, the market sagged a little and then scor- ed a decided general upturn. . Oats paralleled the action of corn. Trade, however, was light. j Lower quotations on hogs pulled down provisions. About the mily demand de-mand was from shorts. Reports of government selling at Winnipeg left afterward to a material j break in the wheat market here. Rumors Ru-mors were current that the peace outlook had assumed a more promising promis-ing aspect. The close was heavy 12c to l-2c to 4c- net lower with May at 1.70 5-8 to 1.70 7-S and July at 18 1-4 to 1.38 3-8. Later corn eased off with wheat. The close was unsettled at l-2c decline de-cline to l-2c advance, as compared with yesterday's close. Wheat bpen. Close.
