Show STODENT BODY DEARS A PROGRAM OE MUSIC ' Today was Student Body day at the Weber ncademy and a general assembly assem-bly was held during the first period, presided over by Lorenzo Richards, president of the student body, and, after a few minor April fool jokes had been passed around, the studeuts were given a rare musical treat by the Misses Josephine Merrick and FranceB Boardman of Denver, who are visiting relatives of the former in the city. Both are talented musicians and their selections were enthusiastically enthusiastical-ly received. Miss Hcrrick is the possessor pos-sessor of a fine soprano voice, her tones being well placed and of pleasing pleas-ing quality She also interprets her songs In a charmlug manner and with good understanding. She sang "April Rain," by Oley Speaks; "Try Smiling" Smil-ing" by Watson and "Hindoo Song," by Bamberg. Miss Boardman Is a pianist of considerable con-siderable ability and gives a fine conception con-ception of classical music. Her work brought Into display techulncal ability abil-ity above the average and she had plenty of strength to handle the more dramatic passages In the selections. She also proved herself to be an excellent ex-cellent accompanist, by assisting Miss Herrick with her songs. Miss Board-man's Board-man's solos were. "Second Rhapsody" Llzat; "Black Key Etude." Chopin, and "Hungarian." by Macdowell. Following the musical program, the students separated to take up matters mat-ters pertaining to the different class organizations. |
