Show CARPENTER ENDS HIS LIFE I A FIT OF DESPONDENCY Theordore Engstrom, a carpenter and bookkeeper, living at 730 Ogden avenue, committed suicide early yesterday yes-terday evening, by cutting his throat with a razor. Despondency, resulting from his being unable to secure employment em-ployment for a number of months, is igiven as the cause for his rash act. His surviving relatives are Mrs. Mary Muschert, who lived with him at 730 Ogden aVenue and a brother, Victor EngBtrom, who lives at Milan, III. He bad been accustomed to coming home about 5.30 o'clock in the afternoon, after-noon, but last night did not get homo until nearly 7:30. He was seen by his sister and J. G. McMillan, who also lives in the same house, to throw his bicyole against the wall on the porch. A moment later he drew the razor and slashed lug throat under the left jaw, from the ear to the point of the chin, He died about 10 minutes minutes later. The police were immediately notified noti-fied and a doctor called. Detective Bob Bur,ke and Chauffeur Guy Nelson Nel-son responded and made a preliminary prelimin-ary examination. They found $10.43 and a number of other articles in the man's pockets and turned them over to his sister. The razor was taken to the station to be used as evidence at the inquest. Engstrom had lived in Ogden for the past seven years and was nearly 40 years old. He was a well educated man, having graduated from the Quincy college at Qulncy, 111. I |
