Show ENGLISH SUFFRAGIST WILLING TO DIE New York, N. Y., April 1. "All the women aro willing to dlo. We are fighting with our lives." These statements characterized tho defense of militant suffrage methods m England by Miss Dorothy Pethlck, sister of Mrs. Pethick Lawrence, and follower of Mrs. Emmellne Pankhurst, at a meeting yesterday of the Equal Franchise Boclety. In answer to question as to what the British government gov-ernment could do to women whom they imprisoned, Miss Pethlck replied: re-plied: "Let thorn die." Then she added I i that she was never so happy in her life as when she thought she had been so reduced by forcible feeding that the end appeared near. Continuing, Con-tinuing, Miss Pethick told of the first woman who underwent a hunger strike and resisted until the doctor said he would not be responsible an hour longer for her life, and told of her own hunger strike. Miss Margaret Hodge, who is with Miss Pethick, also made an address. The women are going to oppose Mr. Asqulth in his coming fight for election, elec-tion, she said. |
