The Standard iB In formed that there are many openings for young men, in fact tho following announcement received at this office Is an official notice to that effect: "The United States Civil Service Commission announces that while It has no difficulty In securing suffl dent female stenographers and typewriters type-writers to meet the needs of the departments de-partments at Washington, the supply of malo eliglbles has not been equal to the demand. Young men who are at least IS years of age and who arc willing to accept the usual entrance salaries, which are ?S40 and $900 a year, have excellent opportunities for appointment. While tho entrance salaries are low, advancement is reasonably rea-sonably rapid to those meriting It Tho examinations, which any competent compe-tent stenographer should be .able to pass, are held each month in the year, except December, at the principal cities cit-ies of the United States."
