Show ! OGDEN TEAM SHOWS h UP WELL WITH j i WHITE SOX " I 5 j A large crowd of enthusiastic ; 'Jbleacherltes" and "sonic few" of the more stnid grandstand variety of t 8 baseball "fans" had a good run for I their money yesterday afternoon at Glenwood park, when a team com- nosed of regulars and recruits of the f Ogdcn baseball club met the second team of the Chicago American league club, popularly known as ihe "White ' i Sox." When the affair was over, ft !L the score stood 13 to 5 in favor ot g JJ the major leaguers. K The game was full of interest and m the fans had the satisfaction of see- fe- ing some of the men who loom upj b large in the baseball firmament in E the White Sox lineup and grew to E like Bens:, the big good-natured coach- W I cr of the team, who drew a "balk' I out of Helrick in the sixth inning. Pitcher Faber made a good imprcs- sion, striking out ten Ogden men, but' I he allowed 10 hits. H TIio crowd was good natured (or the most, part, but took exception sev- k eral times at close decisions by Ref- fc erec Hestmark In favor of the "Sox." K The score, considering the fact of r the short space of time that the Og- L den men have had to get into form aud that a number of recruits wore I In the lineup, was not at all dlscour- I : aging to the local "fans." In fact, I 8 the lineup was nearly all recruits I Rustenhaven, Jones, DoVine and I Wessler being the only regulars, and Rustenhaven was only in the ganio three innings, replacing Sandow in right field. The "fans" may therefore conclude that "Dad" Gimlln has got some recruits that play might' goou ball. Hall, Helrick and Lemley did the twirling and the former and latter did some classy work against the seasoned sea-soned batters. Hall was kept In five innings by Manager Gimlin and allowed al-lowed eight hits and six runs. He f struck out three men. Helrick lasted only one inning, lack of control prov-I prov-I ing his downfall. Three bases on : i balls, a balk, a two-bagger and a . '- triple were Helrlck's donation even . before one man was retired. The collection of walks and hits netted the Sox four runs in as brief a time as 'i it takes to tell iL . f ' He was replaced In the seventh by j J Lemley, who did some "real" pitch- t ing, striking out three men and al- I lowing seven hits and three runs. Seabough and Racdol, Ogden's backstops, back-stops, handled their positions in fine , style and the infield and outfield men .. , got almost everything that came with-x' with-x' r ' t, ' '.. in, reach, making only one error in ' '- the entire nine innings. This waB , "" remarkable, considering that ihe Chilli Chi-lli cago men made two. ft" The work of Anheir, Gimlui'3 re- crult first baseman, was the sensation sensa-tion of the game and. if he keeps up , the same pace, he will be well up ! in the averages Tor the position, at the end of the season. He made three hits and one run, with 10 put-u put-u outs and one assist to IiIb credit t Rossback, the Californian. who only 1 arrived in Ogden two days ago, also made an excellent impression. He secured three hits, a single, double and a three-bagger. i The game afforded a number of fea- jr i ture plays, among them being three m doubles, a home run and three three- ! base hits. . i The summary is as follows: CHICAGO.
