Army Ordnance Flag was flown for the first time February 12 when it was raised, with the American flag., over the Massel-Harris Tank Plant here. The flag raising ceremonies climaxed the awarded of a multi-million dollar contract to the Massey-IIarris company for production of army tanks the largest single war contract ever awarded a Wisconsin manufacturer. Preceding the hoisting of the flags Colonel Donald Armstrong, Chief of the Chicago Ordnance de-partmnet, de-partmnet, praised Massey-IIarris officials as well as State and City officials for "being a partner to the Army in the job of producing material for the armed forces. "Massey-Harris is in the army now enlisted as soldiers of the industrial front," Colonel Armstrong said. The Ordnance Flag is 24 inches square, the field divided horizontally with upper-half crimson and lower half of rich blue. The Ordnance insignia is bronze in a white centered on the square field. ! |
