Show Panel Studies Price Tangles Cleaners, Cafes Cited for Overcharge A complaint against a Logan cleaning establishment charged with raising cleaning prices was tabled for further study at the weekly meeting of the Logan price panel officials had reminded cleaners of OPA rules on eliminating eliminat-ing "frills" in cleaning, the panel reported today. A cleaner who admitted raising prices from 80 cents to $1 on one item declared that the increase was made to cover delivery service. Panels members pointed out that the OPA has authorized cleaners faced with wartime shortages of labor and equipment, to eliminate many "frills" from normal service, including the limiting of deliveries to once a week except for damp wash. Jesse P. Rich, public service member of the panel, reported that some minor violations have been found in a survey of Logan cafes which is virtually complete. The panel pointed out that cafe prices should be the same as in the week of April 14, 1943 and that two dated copies of daily menus should be made, with one copy kept on file. |
