Show NEW COUNTY OFFICERS TAKE OATH Reorganization of the Cache county commission Monday at noon saw Parley Hall of Wellsville, named as board chairman succeeding suc-ceeding Leo C. Nielsen of Hyrum, as the first Republican controlled commission in several years, was sworn into office. A J. Fuhriman of Logan, Republican, Re-publican, succeeds William R. Worley of Logan, and Holdover Democrat H. Ray Pond of Richmond, Rich-mond, who has two-years to serve, comprise the new commission. Oaths of office were administered to all elective county officials except himself by Newell J. Crook -ston, county clerk. L. Tom Perry, newly elected county attorney gave Mr. Crookston the oath. Other elective officials who assumed as-sumed office were Sheriff Jeff Stowell, Assessor Roy Stewart, Treasurer M. T. Beck, Surveyor Eugene Schaub, and Recorder Mrs. Lula R. Mortenson of Smithfield, who defeated Mrs. Elinor B. Hodgson Hod-gson . last November. First official action of the new commission was to reorganize the county road department and remove re-move R. O. Loosle of Logan, who has served for the last ten years. Replacing him was Roy N. Davis of Logan, ' Republican candidate for sheriff in the general election. New members of the road crew will be Vern Williamson of (Paradise, (Para-dise, Luther Baldwin of Wellsville, Theodore (Bill) Larsen of Mendon, and J. H. Ormond of North Logan. Lo-gan. Retaining their positions will be L. O. Lowe of Smithfield, Le-land Le-land Jorgensen, Mark Smith, Hyrum Hy-rum Jacobsen and Oscar Nelson of Logan, John Hemp of Richmond Rich-mond and J. Matt Christensen of North Logan. , Mrs. Mortenson announced that with the exception of Miss Edna Davidson in charge of platting work, all recorder's deputies are leaving the office. They are Mar-jorie Mar-jorie Tibbitts, Claire Johnson and Afton Sorenson. New workers probably pro-bably will "be appointed when the commission meets Wednesday. A party honoring the outgoing commissioners, attorney and ' recorders re-corders will be held Friday, evening! even-ing! at the Hotel Eccles, according to Commissioner Pond who was appointed chairman. Events will Include a dinner and program followed by dancing in the Hotel ballroom. Assisting with the arrangements are Sybil Christensen, Chris-tensen, deputy icounty clerk and Parley Hall, commission chairman. |
