Jan Chaney, president of the Mountain Goat Track Club which is co-sponsoring the race, says runners will start off abreast from the Park City High School field. Last year a staggered start was used with the fastest runners run-ners crowded close to the starting line and slower runners lined behind. "This way no one has to wait for a pack of people to clear before beginning to run," explained Chaney, noting that the 1,400 runners in last year's race created quite a large pack. "A field start will add a few extra yards to the four-mile four-mile course, which will affect af-fect course record times, but I think it is a fairer way to begin the race," Chaney said. The race will begin with a charge across the starting field east toward Lucky John Drive, the fastest runners run-ners reaching the asphalt first. The course turns north and west from Lucky John Drive to Little Kate Road, then south onto Holiday Ranch Loop Road, which is followed almost to the highway, high-way, turns 180 degrees back on Holiday Ranch, loops Holiday Ranch Loop Circle, goes north back on the main Ranch Road then turns south onto Lucky John Drive again to return to the high school. There will be 21 categories this year and the winner of each will be awarded a pair of high quality running shoes from the Timberhaus, which is co-sponsoring the race with the Mountain Goat Track Club. All race finishers will recieve a Twilight Run T-shirt. T-shirt. Last year two Park City residents finished first in their division: Marit Glenne was the fastest woman, crossing the finish with a 26:00 time; and Dave Han-scom Han-scom was the fastest in the 35-39 year old men's category, clocking 22:40. The timing procedure also will be different this year. Finish times will be called out as groups come in and can be checked by the individual in-dividual runner via a digital clock at the termination point. The first 100 runners will have their times recorded recor-ded for them, the rest report their time to division recorders. recor-ders. Chaney says the new procedure should allow the runners to know their race standing immediately. The Twilight Run will be held June 30th. The $5 entrance en-trance fee and an ap- plication should be turned into the Timberhaus or the Chamber of Commerce by Thursday, June 28. Late applicants ap-plicants will be charged an extra dollar. Children (under (un-der 12) and senior citizens (over 60) pay only $3 entrance en-trance fee. Applications are available at the Timberhaus or the Chamber of Commerce.
