Show i Wednesday, June 29, 1977 Page 7 Spencer's Downs The Bums Spencer's Auto bolstered their prospects for a second consecutive slow pitch softball championship Monday night by defeating the talent-laden Alamo Bums 11-5. Both teams were obviously tight in early going and pitchers Greg "Poundcakes" Winn of Spencer's and Brian "Kid" Carter of the Alamo escaped unscathed in the first two innings. Spencer's broke the drought in the third when Chuck "Steak" Folkerth scored from second on a hit by Winn. The Alamo responded with three in the bottom of the third to take a 3-1 lead. Displeased at being passed, the Autos pushed three more across in the top of the fourth and another in the fifth to forge ahead, 5-3. The tide seemed to turn for the Alamo in the bottom of the fifth when, with two outs, Craig Kunkel and Pat Brennan rapped back-to- Men's Slowpitch Softball Standings Spencer's Auto Mt. They jumped on Carter for five runs in the sixth and another in the seventh while Winn held the Bums scoreless for the final two stanzas, giving the Autos a 11-5 victory in one of the season's better played games. Keeping pace with Spencer's, Mountain Realty pasted Park City Ventures 13-4 in evenings second game. The Autos and the Realtors are tied for the league lead with 7-1 records while the Alamo is now one game back at 6-2. Spencer's almost found itself alone at the top of the standings as Mountain Realty had to come from behind to down the always dangerous Shield's Outlaws 15-14 in a Sunday afternoon squeeker.
