Labor lawyer Cecil Hedger said he sees no real legal problem in UP&Ls decision. Everybody has a legal right to determine who they are doing business with, Hedger said. But Public Serp vice Commissioner Ken had a slightly different point of view on the electrician problem. The North Temple project was awarded to a union electrical contractor. We have made no agreements with the IBEW to use them exclusively in our work, Davis countered. But the IBEW absolutely influences our decisions here. We run the business as we see fit, but nonetheless, we dont want to make waves with our workers or with other subcontractors on a construction job. |
