Show The National Enterprise, August 17, 1977 Ogden man plans weekly sports paper and general manager of KLO Radio in Ogden is broadening his journalistic spectrum this week, when he expects to publish Sports Weekly, a tabloid newspaper. Leland Wahl, director of Sports Weekly, Inc., anticipates the newspaper will report organized sports events in or around Ogden in weekly features and news articles. The first issue was expected to be distributed to 28,200 Ogden homes this week. Wahl, who will continue operating KLO, says the first two issues will be delivered free to homes. After that, the paper will be distributed by local newspaper stands and U.S. mail, for subscribers. To be printed by the Sun Chronicle, the paper will be published Tuesdays and sold Wednesday, Wahl says. The first issue has the equivalent of 12 full pages of advertising, he adds. Dave Wigham, who comes to Sports Weekly from the Davis Clipper, will be sports editor, and Paul Vice-preside- nt 24-pa- ge Wesbrook has been named advertising sales manager. All writers and photographers will be part-tim- e employees, Wahl adds. The publication is the culmination of 12 years planning, Wahl says, to meet a demand for total coverage of little leagues, and sports activities at local schools, churches and organizations. Telemation receives order Telemation, Inc. has received an order from an applied research laboratory, for video equipment valued at $83,000, according to Don Rhodes, national sales manager. Rhodes said the equipment will be sold to the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory for the alignment system of its LawSHIVA laser system. rence is located in Livermore, Calif., Rhodes said.
