So You Want to Find a Job? Janet was 45 years old, but looked close to 30. She was a fashionable dresser, the wife of a wealthy executive. But she was unhappy restless, frustrated and bored. Her children, now grown, didn't seem to pay attention to her, and her husband was not spending enough time at home. She was seriously considering divorce. Suddenly she realized the real problem was she just didnt have anything to do. What I need is a job," she m thought. After perusing the want-ad- s she felt she needed some personal contact. She went to a personnal agency whose name sounded friendly. Immediately the personnel agency sent her to a large retail store to apply for a job as receptionist, and just she was hired as quickly for $500 a month. She was ecstatic. She had her first job. End of story? Not quite. She never evaluated her skills. She didnt ever think about what kind of job she really wanted. She could have been an interior decorater, a store buyer, a business manager, or a travel agent. She is smart, creative, verbal and has excellent taste. It wont be long before she is unhappy with her job, says Jinnah Kelson, newly appointed Utah Training Coordinator for the Governors Commission on the Status of Women.
