No notebook available, made a quick run to and back and an interview was born. Trying to get elected to this very important office in Utah as a Democrat is near to impossible. However, Van Dam has an excellent track record as a previous Attorney General for the state, from 1989 to 1993, successfully prosecuting the serial killer Ted Bundy. His message is that everyone should be listened to; that there are so many more important issues needing to be dealt with than those the Supreme Court will be addressing, closer to the hearts of residents of smalltown Utah. These issues include health care, education, overtime pay and the environment. Handshakes and smiles were immediate. Van Dam was accompanied by his lovely wife, d Wal-Ma- rt Cleary Building Corp. He believes that the "No Child Left Behind" initiative would be much more beneficial without restrictions, that we could use the money more efficiently than most of the other state schools do. He believes that there are no teachers incapable of teaching a multitude of subjects. He feels that the Utah Education system works very well, because of the Bennett. Van Dam feels strongly that the country is going in the wrong direction and he looks forward to being able to express his thoughts in a public forum. , Asked about the seeming lack of outrage from Democrats this year, Van Dam com- mented that Republicans see things more black and white than do Democrats, who envision problems in shades of gray. This would account for the seeming lack of energy that is necessary to fight for Democratic ideals and why Republicans feel empowered to be more fe MERWIN KJAR SANPETE I ty Please call with any questions 436-885- 2 Thanks for your support Vote SCOTT B. Much care needs to be given to manage our limited resources well and provide the education needed for our students to have skills that will be necessary to be successful to raise their families and contribute to society.
