Money was provided by the board after School Superintendent Courtney Syme told them the allotment from the state would be "iffy". "The money is not near what it ought to be," Syme reported, and added, "the district is working with the Rural School Association to obtain possible state money." Syme urged the board to provide upgraded computers for school principals so they would be able to analyze students test scores. "Computers last about three to five years and then need to be upgraded," he said. Even though the district is considering the new Apple Platform, Syme said he did not like their service. "Apple customer service is not what it should be," he said. "They have become so big, customer service has almost disappeared." Mileage reimbursement Superintendent Syme urged the board to' consider setting up a district policy for employee mileage rei'mburse-ment. At that, Seely asked if there had been any abuses with mileage. Syme replied, "there were some things that had to be sorted out," and suggested such a program should be "evaluated." The issue was tabled for further discussion. Miscellaneous After a brief discussion, the board approved accepting the Gear Up Federal Grant to pay for reading endorsement education for 10 teachers including four in the middle school. The bid from Rodney Brinkerhoff for roof construction at the Middle School for $3,875 was accepted and voted on to give every employee a two bonus in their J? December pay check.
